The faint noise of the city fades into the background as I focus on my thoughts and feelings, waiting for something.
A memory of reading the bible flits through my mind, a verse from Psalm 147—verse three, if I'm remembering right.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3)
Warmth blooms within me. My heart feels bruised, but I know that Holly’s hurts too. Assurance fills my soul, and I know that, with time, we both will be healed through Christ.
I climb into bed and slip under my quilt. I pull it close, and remember what it’s like to be wrapped up in the love of those around me, and most importantly in the love of God.
The world fades away as I remind myself to make brownies in the morning.

Kingston Family Group Chat - Monday Morning
Alex
Holly, if you don’t leave your room I’ll drag you out of it.
Reina
*palm to forehead emoji * What he means to say is that we’re concerned and so is Mateo, and it would probably be nice if you left your room and talked to your new husband.
Holly
Nuh uh. I regret it all. Hiding in my room forthe rest of my life.
Alex
You cannot be a hermit in your room. Just because you have a stash of snacks and a Kindle in your room doesn’t mean you can live there.
Holly
It’s all I need to survive. Fictional men and chocolate.
Reina
Holly, honey. We love you, but you need to leave your room and face life. Trust me, Mateo is not scary, and I still have a prank I need to pull on him at some point. So if he does something scary, let me know.
Holly
He didn’t do anything scary. I just can’t believe I married him. Plus, my dear old friend anxiety decided to show up.
Alex
Well, after our phone call last night, I have to say you picked the right man for this marriage job. Just don’t start kissing him, alright? Sorry about your anxiety.
Reina
Alex. They’re married. They can kiss.
Alex
She’s my sister. They can’t kiss.
Reina
