“If you want the story, I'll give you the quick version. I locked my half-brother up underground in one of the dungeons, and my sister is giving him food. I'm sure my brother is tearing the place up looking for him, and it won't be long until Ben finds him. Then, I am probably going to have hell to pay. But it'll be worth it because I'll have you.”
Page would be the first to say that the idea and the plan wasn't a very good one. She saw many holes in it and wondered why he hadn’t thought it through better. It didn't matter. The answer was clear that he had gone above and beyond to save her from a fate that she was worried about. Now, she didn't have to worry about it any longer. Now things finally were starting to make sense.
“I'm glad that you were spontaneous, Randall. I've been locked up in my room for over two weeks now, waiting for my husband to come and correct me. I've been dreading it and now I don't have to. You can't know how much that means to me. I thought after our summer together and the way your brother reacted to us that I’d never see you again.”
Randall looked appalled “He locked you in your room?”
Page agreed and she looked away for a moment. It was embarrassing how she was treated by her own parents. She mumbled something about how her mother would have never let it happen because it slacked the pain that she felt from herfather allowing it. At least her mother had loved her. Page felt like at least both of them hadn’t completely given up on her. It was certainly what it felt like, but Page knew that her father had changed after her mother died, and she had been caught in the crosshairs. She didn't want Randall to feel sorry for her though, so she smiled and told him that it didn't matter now.
He looked confused “How could it ever not matter?”
Page shrugged. “You know, because I'm your problem now, according to them. Now, I don't have to worry about what my father thinks anymore, and I can tell you honestly, that's one of the best blessings. I’m so glad it's you, Randall,” Page said with feeling. She opened her arms up and pulled him close. The hug turned into a kiss and then the next thing that Page knew, Randall's passion had started to come forth, and it was just as strong as she remembered.
How many times had she tempered his desires when it would come over him in the past? She couldn't believe that she no longer had to do that. Now, Page could let him go wild and she was dying for that change in circumstance. How many times when they were younger, had Page wanted more? She would finally see what she’d been missing and waiting for all that time.
The problem was, Page was more nervous than turned on. Randall was overwhelming, and she was trembling so hard in his arms that he looked at her face and asked her if she was alright. Page was embarrassed about the question. She said that she was fine, but it was pretty clear that she wasn't fine. Page tried to stop the shaking, but it was impossible.
“I don't think we're ready for that part of the evening yet,” Randall said to no one in particular. He was probably saying it more to himself. He was ready clearly, but Page’s shyness and inexperience shined through. It had been so long since she hadseen him. He was a better kisser, and his body was hard and muscular like never before. She couldn't figure out if she was more disturbed by the evolution of his mind or his body. It was quite obvious that Randall knew a lot more than he had before. Her lips were still tingling where he had smashed his against hers. Her body was shaking. Page was ready for what came next, even if her body didn't think she was and just simply didn’t know how to respond.
“What are we going to do then?” Page had all kinds of saucy little ideas that would get them going, but Randall had something else in mind.
“Why don't we do some talking? I want to know what you've been doing for the last 10 years. My brother wouldn’t let me see you, so we have some things to catch up on.”
Page smiled to herself, and she loved that he was interested in what she had been doing. “I will tell you, but I have to make a confession.”
“Yeah? What is the confession?”
“Well, I know what you've been up to, Randall. I've been keeping up with your achievements. I've actually been to a couple of the underground houses you've made for other packs to show them how it's done. You always said that you would find ways to keep our people safe, and you have done just that. You don't know how many times I wanted to write to you and tell you how proud I was of that. I'm glad that I finally got the honor to tell you and even more so that you are my husband. You have helped a lot of people.”
Randall smiled “I told my brother a long time ago that if it was meant to be, there would be nothing he could do about it. I had said it then and truly meant it, but as the years went by, I started to lose faith in it. I shouldn't have. Look at us. You lookgood, Page. It’s like you haven't aged at all and we are right back where we started. I am glad we get another chance.”
She protested immediately. It was nothing like that. She had definitely aged mentally. She felt a lot older than the last time she had been carefree with Randall. Their relationship had been a secret all summer. Once it had been found out, the romance was over. Page couldn't even describe how much had happened since then and how little she had faith in much of anything. She’d really thought at one point that the two of them would really be together for the long haul. She’d been wrong, so now to be his wife was surreal.
“You must be blind, husband. I have aged quite a bit since you saw me last.”
He surprised her by grabbing her and pulling her in close. His lips went to her ears, her soft form pressed up against the hard parts of his body. Again, she was overwhelmed and again it probably felt better than anything else had before. Her knees got weak, and Page feared that she was going to fall down. He held her up for a moment and then like he was reading her mind, walked her over to the bed and set her down on it gently. The whole time he was kissing her and her body shook with his touch. Why did he always know what she needed most?
When he sat her down on the bed, the need in his dark eyes were enough to make her shiver inside. For something that she had thought about for a decade, Page found herself just as ill prepared as she always had been.
Randall was ready though. There was no debating that part of it at all. He jerked his shirt off and his hard chest was bare for her eyes. The dark hair on his head matched the dark hairs that speckled across his chest. Page’s fingers wanted to push through the tight, dark curls and feel the springy hairunderneath her fingertips. There was something about the way that he looked her up and down where she sat.
Page moved back slightly as he came forward. His chest and arms were so muscular and big. Page couldn’t take her eyes off of him, and her desire for him was stronger than it should have been.
“Why are you moving away?” Randall wanted to know. Page didn’t answer. She licked her lips and swallowed hard, her blue eyes beseeching him to let her be. She couldn’t help how badly she needed all of it. Page had waited a lifetime to be with a man. It had been Randall that first awakened that side of her, but then he had disappeared. Page tried to be with another a few times, but something always held her back. Was it because she had been waiting for him the whole time? It sure felt like it.
“You are bigger than I remember,” Page started. She stopped after a few words though, realizing what she was saying. Then, embarrassingly enough, her eyes went right to the heart of what she was afraid of, and his eyes followed where hers went. Page looked to the hard length that was snug in his pants, but still visible. Page couldn’t believe what she saw, and she gasped, making Randall laugh at her. It was done in fun, but she was so worked up that it didn’t seem to be all that fun at all. Page wanted to talk about it for a minute. She wanted to calm her thoughts down in her head, if there was a way for that to happen.
“Why don’t you take off your clothes, Page? I like the dress, but I always liked you better when you didn’t have all those layers on hiding you from my view.”
Page thought she was going to die from his words. He paid far too much attention to her and when he made a move to help her, Page moved back and he growled at her. It was clear that he wasn’t down with a wait that was too long. Page knew what hewanted, what she wanted as well, but it was hard to give in and give up all control. She worried that she wouldn’t be able to.
“Lay back, Page. I know how to loosen you up.”
Page did as he suggested, certain thoughts playing out in her mind. She tried not to show how nervous she was, but the longer he took her in, the worse her nerves got. Page was shaking by the end of it, and he had a huge grin on his face.
