Page shyly looked away and that made Randall smile even wider. “I will admit that I am excited that I get to see you that way soon.”
She waved him off and Page told him that she regretted asking. She meant it too. Now, all Page could think about was how it was going to be, swelled up with his kids.
“I hope you don’t regret anything, because I know that I don't. My only regret is that we got to be here doing this. I wish that we were back at the B&B, taking up more time to consummate the marriage further. That's all I can think about, your hot little body writhing under mine. I love those damn noises you make. I can still hear them in my head,” he relayed with a faraway smile.
A smile crossed her own face from the reminder. It actually gave her a little bit of a push to try to get them out of there sooner. The sooner it was all said and done, the sooner they could get back to the consummation that he was talking about. Page liked the idea of that best, her body practically gyrating just to think about it.
It was dark and they were on the outskirts of where the underground houses were put in for mini dungeons. Page wouldeventually have to ask what made them do such a thing, but she decided to keep that to herself for the moment. She would later know more than enough about her new people when they were able to be together again, at least that's what she hoped. Page really liked the feeling she got in the village and wanted her kids to be there. It felt safe and right.
Everything was going fine for once. They were making their way to the place where Nathan was being kept and then all of a sudden, nothing was fine. There was a rustling in the bushes not far from where they stood. All of a sudden, Page’s senses started to work, and she could tell that they were not alone, not by a long shot. It felt like a trap and when she looked at Randall, he had a strange look on his face too. He was worried about something like she was and when she asked him what was going on, he told her to run. “These are my people Page, leave now!”
Page didn't know what was going on, but she knew that he was telling her to go and that was exactly what she was going to do. She waited a second and then took off in the opposite direction of where they’d been heading. She could hear fighting behind her, and Page wanted to turn back, but then she heard people behind her and knew that if she wanted to get away free like Randall told her to, she would have to keep running.
She was terrified. She looked behind her once and saw Randall falling to the hands of his attackers. She also noticed that the people chasing her had shifted and were coming faster than ever. She did the same and just kept running into the mountain, hoping that she could get away and Randall would be okay. Page ran off of pure fear, not looking back once more, but feeling those behind her in hot pursuit.
Chapter 13
Randall
Randall knew when he came to that he was going to be in for a hell of a day. It wasn’t just that he recognized some of Ethan’s people, but he also recognized his own brother when his eyes opened. No one looked happy to see him awake, but it was his brother Ben that had the cruelest sound to his voice. Randall didn’t want to talk to them. He was only worried about one thing. He wanted to know where Page was, and he was told that she was gone. She had gotten away, at least for now, and Randall was able to breathe. He laid back and smiled to himself. Of course, she would get away from them. Page was so strong.
“I see you are finally awake, my idiot brother.” Ben’s smile had no warmth whatsoever in it and just because he wasn’t condemning Randall just yet, didn’t mean that he wouldn’t very soon. He wanted to know what was going on and what had he done, but Randall didn’t want to answer for his crimes. Randall didn’t think his love should be punished. He loved Page and his brother knew it. He should have never tried to marry Ethan off with her.
“Yes, Ben, I am here.”
“What have you done?” His older brother asked him with all seriousness. Randall did not want to have to sit there andexplain himself. He had done what he needed to do. There was no way that he was going to feel bad about it. His brother knew how he felt about Page, and he had done it anyway. He had specifically gone to him and because he had ignored all of it, it was the only thing that Randall could do. It was his only option, so how could he feel bad for it?
“I did what I had to do,” Randall said as calmly as he possibly could. He was trying hard not to be angry at Ben for putting him in the position that he had put him in to begin with. He acted like he had a right to tell him who he could marry and when and why. Ben stopped him once before from being with Page. Randall wasn't going to let it happen again. It was too late now anyway and when he told his brother that, Ben's face changed even more.
“Tell me why it's too late, and make sure that you use the right words. There are a lot of people listening that are going to want to know what I'm going to do with you after you say it.”
Randall understood, but there was no easy way to say it. They were married, officially, consummated, and she likely had a belly full of his babies. That that's, all fact, and there was nothing that he could say to make that any better. Randall knew that his brother was going to be pissed, and he also knew that everybody around him was going to think that he needed some kind of punishment for what he had done. Knowing his brother, Ben was going to agree as well. He still didn't know what happened with his sister and he finally asked him, which got an even dirtier look.
“I can't believe you're bringing her up. What were you thinking, dragging her into this? Did you really think that she would sit there and feed a man in a prison that did nothing wrong? You really don’t get how much of a bleeding heart she is.”
“Did you figure it out?” Randall wanted to know.
“No, it was nothing like that. She just let him go, because she felt bad. He gave her a good story and she took it to heart. You know how she is.”
Randall did, but he still wasn't too sure about all the rest of it. As soon as he found out that she had let him go, it made sense. His sister’s heart was a little too open in his opinion. He was more surprised that Ethan could manage to make his sister believe in him. “So, what do you want me to say?”
Ben sighed. He looked tired. “I want you to tell me where his mate is, so that he can be mated.”
“Have you not talked to her father?”
Ben agreed that he hadn’t. “I was trying to keep our disgrace as little as possible. It is good that there is something more that we can do. If you bring back Page, I hope that it will be enough.”
Randall shook his head that it wasn’t going to happen, “That is my mate now, Ben. I told you that I wanted Page. We have been destined for each other for a long time. I know you think that it was best for her to be with Ethan, but it wasn’t. She was always mine.”
Ben looked at Randall as if he had lost his mind. Maybe he had. It really just came down to the idea that Page was not going to be with another man. He wouldn’t allow it to happen, and she wanted him. It was the two of them that were meant to be together. He told his brother that and he gave him a dirty look.
“You can’t be serious, Randall! Why would you do that?”
Randall was out of breath he was so worked up. He wanted to tell his brother off, but it wasn’t going to do him any good. “I told you how I felt about her, Ben, and you just pushed it off!I told you that she was the woman that I loved, and you were going to give her away. What did you expect of me?”
Randall knew that he had expected him to let it happen. He was supposed to stand idly by while Page was married off and never seen again. He knew that, but it hadn’t made following that path any easier. He wanted to tell him what a jerk he was. “I expected you to do what you are told. I am your Alpha!”
Randall scoffed, “Fuck being the Alpha, Ben. How about you be a brother for once?”
