Chapter 29

Allie

When Allie woke up that morning, she had no idea that the day was going to end much differently than it began. She hadn't seen the kidnapping coming unfortunately, or the men that tried to get money out of her family for her safe return. She knew that her brother would pay it, and she hoped that Justice would come save her before then, but she couldn't be sure.

Allie wasn’t even worried about that at the moment. She had bigger problems and it had nothing to do with the kidnapping. It had more to do with the fact that Allie could feel her body starting the process of labor. She had no more time; they were coming and there was nothing that she could do about it.

She had heard too many times what it was lik, and she just woke up knowing that today was the day. It scared her, and she worried how it was going to happen. She started hoping and praying that she would be saved that day before it all began. She was in the last place, with the last people that she wanted to be around to bring her children in the world. She had to get out and get somewhere better.

She knocked on the door of the room she was staying in, waiting for her captors to come into the room. She was locked in, and they didn't want to be bothered too much, so she only did when she absolutely had to. Since she just woke up and had to pee something terrible, Allie had to ask if she could go.

Dennis answered, though he didn't realize that she knew his name. Allie had heard the other one call him that. He was rough looking around the edges, hollow eyed and she tried not to make direct eye contact. It felt like if she did, things were just going to get worse for her.

“I really need to go to the bathroom. Do you think that would be possible?” He looked at her for a moment like he was about to tell her no, but then she interrupted him with a smile and promised that she would hurry up. Allie wasn't quite sure why she was kept in the room, but she figured that it made them feel better and whatever made them feel better, was fine by her. Allie knew how it all went in the movies. She had to cooperate, or she would be shot.

She hustled into the bathroom, not looking around because that seemed to bother the other guy that she didn't know the name of. He was constantly giving her dirty looks, threatening her with his eyes. Allie tried to stay as far away from him as humanly possible. She knew that if she did something wrong, he would take it out on her. He saw her as a betrayer. She had left Bishop after mating and was caught with another man, took his unborn kids from him. She was made to be the bad guy in the scenario.

While most of it was true, there was a lot of it that she would never let happen. Allie would never let Bishop have her and Justice’s kids. There was no way. As she was about to have them, she knew that she would never let that happen.

When she got out, she thanked him and went back to the room. Allie didn't ask any questions because they didn't like that. Instead, Allie was just made to wait. It was a lot harder than it sounded too. She kept hoping and praying that today would be the day that she would be saved. Her mind couldn't focus on what would happen if she wasn't. She had to focus on when she was, because she was in labor, whether she liked it or not.

It didn't happen that morning. Allie hoped that it would, but instead she got a sandwich for lunch that was somehow dried out and moist at the same time. It turned her stomach and when she refused to eat, they threatened her. Allie was already sick of the situation she found herself in. She had to figure a way out of it. She just hadn't figured out what it was yet.

About the time when Allie was going to give up on it all, she heard a commotion at the door. It wasn't the normal going on of the day. She had been with them for almost a week now and was pretty good with knowing what their schedule was. It was the only thing to focus on and it gave her the ability to know what was going to happen next. Whatever was going on at the front door was not something of the ordinary. She heard yelling and then a few gunshots, maybe the sound of bodies hitting the floor. Allie didn't mean to, but she started to get excited, hoping that finally she would get the help that she so desperately needed. Never once did she consider that it would be more danger coming her way.

Everything went quiet after a few moments. She waited with her ears strained as much as they would manage, trying to hear what was going on in the other room. Allie had learned long ago that she couldn't trust that things would turn out the way they were supposed to. Instead, she really wanted to focus on what was going on. She got a sickening feeling and didn't know what to do. Finally, she heard a voice and her name calling out to her. It was probably the sweetest sound that she had ever heard before.

“I'm in here!” Allie hollered to her saviors, and she could already feel not just the pains of labor, but a relief that took over her whole existence. Allie had never been so happy to hear Justice's voice in her life. She really thought that it might be the end for her.

Justice burst through the door moments later and made her cry. She was so worked up, so ready to get out of there, that it took her a moment to realize that she wasn't stuck in the same spot. She just looked up at him staring, frozen in place and finally he moved down to her swiftly, picking her up into his arms and holding her close. She could feel the relief, the fear that ran through her of losing him. Allie knew that she never wanted to be out of his sight again.

Allie knew she had to convince her brother, and she knew for a fact that she would. Anything to keep him in her life. Allie never wanted to go another day without him. That realization cleared up a lot of things for her and made it all that much easier to focus on what came next. If her brother didn’t want to give her freedom, she would take it. They would run off together…

Once she realized that he was real and she was being saved and it wasn't just a really good dream, Allie was able to relax just a little bit. She had somewhere along the lines given up home and as it resurged inside of her, it took her breath away. She just kept repeating the same thing, “I can't believe you're here.”

“Of course I am here, Allie. As soon as I could come to you…I’m just sorry that it wasn’t sooner.”

Allie could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. “I can't believe you found me.”

After a time, Allie started to think a little clearer and she worried what it would all mean. What about her brother? Allie already felt more fear going through her. She didn't want to have to keep running, but it might be the only way that they could be together.

“Don't worry about that right now, Allie. I don't want you to worry about anything. Now that you're okay and in my arms, the babies are alright, that is all that matters. I'm here with your brother. You don't know how much he cares about you. I couldn’t have found you without him.”

Allie could feel a difference in Justice. Although she was curious what had been said and done, she wasn't going to ask any more questions. If they were somehow going to get along and they could all be something better, Allie was going to let it go. She just let him pull her in for another kiss and another hug. Allie didn't think she was ever going to get sick of that feeling.

Allie was greeted to a big welcoming, something that Allie hadn't thought was possible considering how she had left. While she was still mad at her brother for what had happened, he was reminding her again that he was a good person. She had put him in a bad position, Allie understood that, but love seemed to not care what was or wasn’t supposed to happen. Allie would have never thought that her life would end up the way that it was. She would never change it either. Allie was happy with Justice and all the people smiling back at her. It was a perfect, magical moment and then Allie remembered something very important. When she woke up that morning, Allie had known one thing and one thing only. Today was the day.

Looking over at Justice, Allie grimaced as a stronger pain ran through her. Justice asked her immediately what was wrong. “The babies,” it was all that Allie could get out. She had never experienced pain like she was then, taking over everything and making her cry out in the moment. Allie couldn't hold it back and after a time she didn't even try.

Chapter 30

Allie

Allie had triplets, something that was in her family's bloodline, and she couldn't have been happier about it. Justice, of course, was a bit overwhelmed. He knew that multiple births were pretty much a given when it came to a shifter female, but knowing about it, expecting it and looking at these tiny creatures that he now had to keep alive and take care of was a completely different thing. The responsibility and love of it all took over his every thought, and Justice was almost paralyzed in the moment. He was also so happy, maybe too happy.
