“I don’t want you that way. Just because you are under my draw wouldn’t mean that you would remember it the wrong way. You would know that it wasn’t your choice, and I don’t want you if you don’t choose me.”
Teri smiled and then looked away. “So, try me. I want to see if you can do it.”
Ben didn’t know what she was talking about. He was too busy taking in the state of her, and it was hard to ignore. Her body was desperately reaching out to him. Ben hadn’t even done anything yet, and Teri was damn near ready. It wouldn’t have taken much.
“Why would you want that?”
Teri said that she wasn’t sure if she could believe that the “draw” was real. She wanted it to happen to her again, so that she would know that it was real. He didn’t like the idea of that at all, but how could he refuse such a favor? She wanted him to do the one thing he was dying to do the whole time.
“You know that it is real. You felt it with Mark.”
She shrugged. “What if that is just because it’s him? I don’t want to pretend like it could happen to anyone if it couldn’t.”
Ben didn’t know what to say to that. He was about to argue that it wasn’t a good idea, but instead he said that he was going to just do it for a moment to prove his point.
“Why are you so against drawing me in, Ben?” she asked curiously.
Ben started to pull her in without a word. Her expression changed and Ben didn’t like the sudden slack of need that took over. He didn’t like seeing it and not knowing if it was real or not. He wanted Teri desperately, but the only way that it was going to work was if he got her in his arms the right way. Teri was quickly where he wanted her, tiptoeing upward for a kiss. Ben was grimacing inside, knowing that he wanted her so badly he couldn’t say no, not to a kiss.
Chapter 16
Teri
She knew the instant that he turned “it” on. Teri didn’t know what she was thinking. She pushed and pulled on Ben, wanting him and refusing him. Now, she wanted him, and it was the feeling so loud and clear that she couldn’t stop herself from doing it. She rose up for a kiss and Ben, after a moment, let their lips meet. Teri was stunned with the touch and she was shaking as he pulled her all the way into his arms. Teri didn’t know how she could have felt better.
“I wish that you were looking at me like that without me having to draw you in.” It was the last thing that he said to her before their lips met for several moments and Teri melted against Ben. She knew that she was attracted to him. She knew that they were together, he owned her, Fate brought them together, all of it. She knew all of that, but it was when he kissed her that she finally started to understand what all of it meant. Teri was dying for him and when he pulled back abruptly, it made her whine.
“What are you doing?”
Teri was still trying to kiss him and just like a light switch coming off, she didn’t feel the draw anymore. She still wanted him, her body was tingling in the way she wanted him, but that was it. It was impossible for her to stop what came next.
Ben moved back and said that he wanted to prove that what he said was true. Teri made a frustrated sound and Ben knew that he had done something wrong. He shouldn’t have let her feel how good it could be and then take it away. Teri wasn’t too happy about it. Her eyes squinted when she looked at him.
“Why did you stop? Isn’t that what you want, us to be together?”
Ben agreed that it was. When he didn’t say anymore, Teri pushed, wanting to know what was so different. Why wasn’t he touching her like he could? Teri had no idea how to take it. Didn’t he want her? She wanted him, still. Draw or not, Teri wanted to finally know what it would feel like between them to finally be together. It was inevitable. Why not make it happen when both of them were already dying for it?
“I have told you before, Teri. I want you only when I know that it is your choice. I can’t imagine what it would be like right after a draw. I hear that the feelings last for a while. I don’t want you when you are just coming off of that. I want you when you are of the right state of mind to say yes. I want it to be something that we will always remember. I can’t do that if there is any doubt.”
Teri didn’t want to hear that. She was quite sure that whether she still had lingering feelings about him or not didn’t matter. She was sure that it was just because she needed him so badly, that’s why she felt the way she did. They’d almost done it before, and Teri was still reeling off of how he had made her body feel. Nothing had changed, her desire was there because of him, not some mystical power the men in his clan had.
She tried to convince him that it was her that wanted him, not some jacked up on his “draw” version of herself, but he wasn’t going for it. He insisted that they get going again, but that wasn’t what Teri wanted at all. She was past the point where he could just put her off. It wasn’t going to work that way anymore. Teri was going to have him, one way or another. She wished that she had the same powers that he did. Then, he wouldn’t have a choice but to finally put her out of her misery. Once she realized that she wanted Ben to actually be her mate, she didn’t want to wait any longer to make it happen. It was just that simple. Teri was going to have to make it happen herself.
So, she did the one thing she knew would get his attention. Ben liked to believe that he had all of this control and maybe he did, but maybe she just hadn’t pushed it. She wanted him and she was ready to see how good his control was. Supposedly, he was able to turn her away if he wanted to. Teri wanted to see that happen for real.
As she started to take off her clothes, letting them fall to the ground, Ben must have heard something because she could see his ear turn up toward her and Teri wanted to laugh. It was comical the look on his face when he saw the state of her. He could say all that he wanted to, it didn’t matter. His eyes said enough, and Teri knew that she had enticed him out of his control.
Ben moved toward her, wanting to know what she was doing. Teri insisted that she wanted him and wouldn’t leave until that happened.
“Why would you want that, right here?” he asked.
Teri told him that it didn’t matter where it was, but that was where they were at the moment. They’d run in the woods for hours, it was the only view she’d had for days, trees and nature. It was the perfect place.
“I need you, Ben, and I want this to happen before we get back to your home. I don’t want anyone to be able to draw me into them like Mark did. I want to be yours and for everyone to know that and leave me alone.”
Ben sighed. That wasn’t at all what he wanted to hear apparently. “That’s not a very good reason.”
Teri agreed that it wasn’t. She had other reasons though, if he needed more than what she had given him. “I really want to know what it feels like to be a woman. I want to know what it feels like to be with you. Fate put us together and the few times that we have kissed and touched, it seems to be right. Don’t you want to see where that is going to lead us?”
