Neither of them moved. Sarah clutched the towel against her belly to block it from view. Her heartbeat picked up so fast that she was afraid she was going to scare the baby. Every iota of her being wanted to fling herself in his arms, despite the pain he had caused her. But her secret prevented her from doing so.

Their baby. The one that Luke had no idea about.

"What... what are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you." He took a step toward her, and she instinctively stepped backwards.

"Don't you have a kingdom to run or something?" She clapped her hand over her mouth. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry to hear about your dad."

"How did you hear about that?"

"We have guests from another dragon kingdom that heard."

"Can I come in?"

She glanced over his head. All she needed was for Colton or one of the others to come walking by. She stepped back and gestured. "I don't want to have to explain to anyone who you are."

After she closed the door, she ushered him into the living room. He sat on the sofa, so she took the easy chair. She pulled a blanket over her lap to hide her belly.

"How did you find me?" Sarah drank in the sight of him, even if she wasn't sure why. "We never really talked about it."

"I remembered enough to get here, and then a girl named Wren pointed out your cabin."

"Oh, shit." Sarah almost leapt out of the chair. "I need to tell her not to say anything about you."

"I don't think she'll matter."

Sarah narrowed her eyes at him. "Why?"

"I met your sister-in-law at that other hotel. She told me how to get here."

"Danielle?" She was always over at Active Assets visiting her friend.

He nodded. "She was very nice."

"I'm sure she's doing her best right now to figure out who you are."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Probably. She and her friend were curious."

Sarah rubbed her face. "My brothers will be here any minute. I'm a mess. Wren and I have been baking all day." She just stared at the man she loved. Part of her still didn't believe he was there.

He stared back at her. "I don't even know where to begin. I hurt you when I let you go, Sarah. I know that. And I don't ever want to do that again. I let my father's threats sway my common sense, but now we don't have to worry about him."

"What about your wife?"

"My wife?" His whole face crinkled up. "I don't have a wife." His eyes widened. "Do you mean Kayleigh? My father tried to arrange that marriage, but it was never going to happen whether he died or not."

"Oh." She didn't know what else to say. The urge to throw herself at him grew stronger.

"How'd you know that?"

"I was there," she replied simply. "When he made the announcement, and when I went back and confirmed with the guards after they locked the city down."

"You were there? You came to see me?"

She smiled gently. "The first time, yes. I think I left pieces of my heart shattered everywhere when I heard your marriage proclamation. Then I had to go back and confirm that your father had died, and the guards told me that Lady Kayleigh was with you."

Luke rubbed his head. "She arrived the same day he died. I had no idea that she was coming. She left after I announced my father's death. I haven't seen or heard from her since."
