Vinia glanced at Tyson. "Something like that." They disappeared outside.

Colton stretched. "I say we go check out the resort and see if they have rooms there. It makes sense that they'd stay there if they're still in the area."

"Agreed," Tyson responded. "If they're not there, we'll check their house in the city."

Logan grimaced. "You know that if that's where they are, they've fortified that house completely."

"We're dragons," Tyson answered drily. "We'll burn it down if we have to, so long as we get Valerie and Mitchell out."

"Is the little boy there?" Colton asked.

"I don't know. But I do know that this time, we're not coming back without him. Valerie won't have it, and that dick doesn't need to have that baby."

Sarah pursed her lips. "How's that going to work? We can't have a little wolf running around here." She groaned. "Okay, that sounded really bitchy. I mean, here is one thing, but if we ever went back..." She let her voice trail off.

"I've already thought about it," Tyson retorted, "and I have no idea. But one thing at a time."

Logan glanced at his phone. "Drake will be here in two minutes."

Once he arrived, the five of them shifted and headed for Active Assets. Tyson flew closer than normal before he shifted back to human, but his fear for Valerie was stronger than his fear of detection. As a team, they stormed into the lobby. The lady behind the desk smiled as they approached. Her name tag said Annie.

Tyson wasn't about to make small talk. "Do you have a Randall Kenway registered here right now?"

"We don't normally give away our guests' information. It's confidential."

Colton snorted. "We've been through this before. Just tell us so we don't have to tear the place apart."

Annie rolled her eyes. "You Hales just think you own the place."

Sarah gave her a sarcastic grin. "How do you know we don't? Maybe we're silent owners and pay your salary."

Tyson poked her. "Let it go. You can come back and fight."

Annie tapped on the keyboard. "Nope. No Kenways are currently registered."

Tyson growled. "That would be too easy anyhow." They started to turn away. "Guess we're headed to the city."

"Wait," Annie called them back. "Not that I'm saying he did, but Mr. Kenway might have rented two other rooms, and those rooms haven't checked out yet."

Logan was closest. He leaned in to Annie. "And which rooms might those be?"

She blinked hard at his nearness. Like the others, Logan knew how to fill out the perfect picture of a cowboy. "Building Three. That's all I can tell you."

"Thank you, ma'am."

Annie was fanning her face as they headed out the back door. All of the buildings surrounded a huge pool deck, which they headed across to the building with the large number three.

As they passed a group of guests, one of the men laughed at something his friend said. "I know. Those guys were just fucking with those horses to get them to act like that. I just rode them yesterday and they were docile as can be. They were acting like they'd never been broken. Dude is lucky he didn't get kicked."

Tyson caught Colton's gaze. "They're at the barn."

Wolves in a horse barn would have that reaction. Colton veered to the walkway between the buildings and they hurried to the barn. They could hear the horses whinnying long before they arrived.

Colton yanked the door open and grabbed the man standing just inside. Caught off guard, the man was on the ground with a bloody nose before he knew what hit him.

Another of the bearded, neatly groomed goons was attempting to lead one of the horses out of its stall, but the horse was having none of it.

"Let it go."
