"Do you really think you're that important to him that he'd risk a war?"
She watched the clouds and didn't answer. She knew he would.
"Besides that, my dear," Randall continued, "you'd better hope that he doesn't. All the trouble I went through to get a son, I'd hate for Mitchell to get hurt."
"The Hales would never hurt a child. Maybe your wolves would, but they wouldn't. Ever."
"I wasn't referring to them hurting him."
The malice in his voice made her blood run cold. Valerie couldn't tell if he would hurt his own heir or not, but she knew she wasn't willing to challenge the bluff with her own baby on the line.
Chapter Twenty: Chapter 20 Title
Tyson “Ty” Hale
Tyson landed with Logan right behind him. Nothing seemed out of place as they ran to the house, but Tyson felt a cold chill creeping into his soul. Vinia met him at the door and stepped out of the way so he could get inside.
Londyn sat in a chair crying with Elfred wrapped tightly in her arms. Colton and Ellie sat on the couch, and a very pissed off Sarah paced back and forth. Tyson glanced at his mom.
"What happened?"
Sarah answered. "That bastard was waiting for her. None of us even saw them pull up. Mom was here and didn't see them, Val was almost to my place when that guy stopped her."
Panic almost overwhelmed Tyson. He barely refrained from grabbing his sister and shaking the story out of her. "Where is she?"
"He took her," Sarah choked out the words.
"And no one stopped him?"
Colton shook his head. "We weren't back yet."
"I had Londyn. She looked at me, Ty, through the window. She begged me to keep Londyn safe. I didn't have time to do anything else before they were gone."
Tyson dropped into a chair. "So, we have no idea?"
"I went and looked, I swear," Sarah responded. "Once I got Londyn up here with Mom, I flew around and searched. I couldn't find them."
Colton cleared his throat. "Which means they either left town or they hid their cars."
Vinia sighed. "This is my fault. If I had been paying attention, I would have noticed them taking her." She glanced at Tyson. "Anything going on down at the barn?"
He shook his head. "Not a damned thing. I got hit over the head and tied up, but Logan got me free."
"I had a feeling something happened when you didn't come back. I'm so damned stupid that I just asked your brother to go check on you rather than alert any red flags."
Tyson closed his eyes. "This isn't your fault. This asshole is slick. He must have figured out I was the only one home and had to get rid of me." He glanced at the little girl who stared at him with big eyes. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I need to watch what I say."
"It's okay. My daddy is an asshole."
No one corrected her language. Sarah leaned over and kissed her on the head. "What are we going to do now?"
Tyson walked over and picked Londyn up out of the chair and cuddled her against him. "I'm going to get your mommy back. She belongs here with us. Don't you worry about that."
"I'm not worried." She threw her little arms around his neck. "She said that you could save us. I believe her."
Ellie and Vinia took Londyn to go to her cabin and get some pajamas. "How about a sleepover with me?"
Londyn looked up at Vinia. "Are you like my grandma or something?"
