She started the hot water and was happy for that. How long had it been since she’d had a proper shower? It felt like too long.

There was a knock and then someone tried the door. Her senses were heightened, and Christin considered the evitability that she might have to go dragon on these men. She didn’t want to, but she would.

“Yeah?”

“I have towels and some clothes. You’re going to have to wear something of mine.”

Christin opened the door. “I hope you don’t mind.”

Christin looked up at the six foot something bulky man in front of her. “I doubt it will fit.”

“Well, it will be clean. I will have something brought for you in the morning. Size four?”

She scoffed. “Eight.”

He grinned. “Very well. I will have something more suitable in the morning. You don’t have to lock this, Christin. You are in good company. No one will touch you here.”

“How can you be sure?”

“These are my men, Christin, and they will do as they are told. No one is to touch you.”

Chapter 7

Broch

“What the hell are you doing, man?”

Broch smiled at Leonard. He didn’t have an answer and he didn’t need to know what he was talking about. It was pretty damn clear. Leonard was talking about Christin. Why he had saved her, he had no idea. There was just something in her eyes.

“I don’t know.”

“Do you really think that this is wise, to have a human girl in the midst of all of this?”

“She was there too. I think she can handle a couple of guys around.”

“That’s not what I meant. You know that we have secrets that she doesn’t need to know about. Brody and Dennis were hoping to wild-out. You know that it has been months for them.”

“Then tell them to take it out to the woods. This is a good place for it. Change back before you get here. We’ve lived around humans before, so it’s not like we don’t know how to act.”

Leonard agreed. “Right, but why are we having to be around her in the first place? Are you trying to hit that or something? I mean, give me something I can understand.”

“Think what you want. Something told me to help her, so I did.”

Leonard sighed. “I should have known that this was your dick talking, not you. I thought you were going to stop letting that part of you make decisions?”

Broch told him to piss off. She was gorgeous and he had undressed her with his eyes several times, but at the same time, he hadn’t taken it further than that. It wasn’t why he had gotten her out, was it? Maybe her looks were part of it, but it was more the draw that he had felt all the way across the room, in the pitch black.

“She’s here for as she wants. No one touch her.”

“Everyone knows, we all heard you. Good hearing, remember?”

Broch sighed. “Yeah, I know. That’s why it will be good to get back to the house and get back to normal.”

“Are they fixing the names?”

“The ones given for conviction, yeah.”

“What about her?”
