“A lion?”

“For one reason or another, you were kept in the dark about what you really are. You are a powerful shifter, one that I can’t seem to get enough of. I know that you're not ready for more, but maybe you should pull that sheet up a bit more. I am not going to be able to keep my beast at bay, if you keep flashing me like that.”

Sarah moved quickly like it was a threat, and that just made Harold chuckle even more. Sarah was turned on and again, she focused on the hard body. Everything had happened so fast; she had been so interested in her own pleasure, that she hadn’t gotten a very good look at him. She saw some things, but not all of them. Again, Sarah had to push back the feelings that took over. How badly she wanted him, needed him. It didn't even matter the nonsense that was pouring out of his mouth. He was cute and that's all that mattered. The way he made her feel was different than anything anybody had ever made her feel before.

“So, how could I be the shifter that you're talking about and never know about it?”

Harold smiled at this as he got up. It was quite clear that he did not want to talk about it, but there was nothing else she could talk about. To find out something like that about herself was hard to imagine. It wasn't like she hadn’t had sex before. Why had nothing happened before? Why had it happened now?

“I really don't know, Sarah, but I know someone that will tell us, if you’re up for it.”

“Up for what?”

“You know, the truth.”

That should have been such an easy question, but Sarah was starting to realize that nothing about it was going to be easy.

“You really don't know?”

He shook his head that he didn’t. “I didn't know, and I'm actually pretty damn surprised that I didn't know, because my senses should have kicked in. I should have known that you were a shifter like me. You just seemed so human.”

“And now?”

“Now you are a beautiful shifter that I can't keep my eyes off of.”

“So, nothing has changed?”

“Not for me. I want you just as badly now as I did then. Did you think that part would ever change?”

Sarah wasn't really sure. “I don't know. I don't know what I'm supposed to think about all of this. I don't even really know what a shifter is.”

“We are shape shifters. We can shift into different things. You shift into a lion like I do. We are one in the same, but all shifters are related in the grand scheme of things, even if they turn into something else: bear, wolves, dragons.”

Sarah was shocked even more with the last suggestion. “And you didn't know this about me before we met? Shouldn’t you have known that I was one of your kind?”

Harold agreed that he didn't, but that he should have. “It was rather strange, but just talking to you on the phone made me want to meet you. I don't know why, but you were always in the back of my mind and maybe that was the reason that I couldn’t see it. Maybe there was a connection there that I didn't understand, that clouded my judgment.”

“What about now?”

“Now, I think that it is all connected somehow, but I'm still not really sure in what way. This is all new to me.”

Sarah pulled the sheets around her closer. It was all new to her, too. She didn't even know that there was anything beyond humans and now she was supposed to believe that there was this whole other world that she didn't even know about. Worse than that, she was a part of it.

“So, what are we supposed to do?”

“We should go see some women that I know. They’re witches, actually.”

Sarah scoffed. Surely, he was joking. She clicked her tongue and smiled, but it was the way that he looked at her deadpan serious that made her nervous. He was joking, right?

“I'm serious, witches.”

“So, they have long noses, green faces, and ride brooms?”

“Not even close. The humans do get it right when they portray them as old hags, though that is only when they allow you to see their true self. Most of the time, they will just show you a glamour. It is what they want you to see. The ones we will go see look like they are in their thirties, but they are really just a little over three hundred. They stay young by the youth of others. They are very deceptive.”

Sarah felt like her mind was going to blow. She couldn't believe any of it was true. If she hadn't experienced it, turning into some kind of animal after she had one of the best orgasms of her life, she would have believed none of it. How could she? It was all just too unbelievable, and Harold was really being super calm about it. She was unsure what to do, what to say. Everything felt strange.

“So, what am I supposed to do?”
