Sarah gasped.

“Are you surprised?”

“No, I just... I don't know. The way you’ve been acting, I figured that you didn't feel that way.”

“How could you think otherwise?”

Sarah shrugged like she had no answers. She started to look at his lips, focusing on them, and he finally just kissed her. He didn't want to prolong it, anymore. By his own account he had been waiting so long, but it was painful to wait another second. It was physically painful. He wanted her so badly and nothing else was going to do. Finally, there was no one there to stop them.

His inner beast was immediately taking over and while Harold tried to fight it, calm himself down, every flick of his tongue, drove him against her harder. Every inch of her was his and he wanted to touch all of it at once. He wanted to be on her, in her, possessing every part of her with himself. Harold couldn’t get enough, or his beast couldn’t. Harold couldn’t see where one line ended and one began. It was all starting to blend in together.

He moved back to bring her to his bed. He wanted to claim her there. Harold had only one thing on his mind. There was no discussion going to happen, just her clothes being ripped off and Harold slinging her to the bed.

Sarah’s eyes were bright, shining back at him. She was shocked, but horny, and something else was starting to show through. Maybe, if Harold would have been paying more attention to her and less on controlling his inner-beast, he would have seen the glow for what it was.

Instead, he mounted her, forgoing all of the fun stuff that he loved to do most. He wanted to make her scream and plead for him, but Harold couldn’t stop himself. He was plunging in deeply, calling out loudly. The satisfaction was immediate and went through every facet of his being. Harold had never felt that way in his life.

Harold looked down and kissed her gently, waiting for her to get used to him. He would have stayed there longer, but Sarah was clenching him from the inside, and it was far too sweet to ignore. Harold didn’t want to, either. He was forced to push deeper and hear her screams. Several strokes in and Sarah was trembling below him. It was so quick.

He looked back down to see what was going on and she was shaking. It didn’t look like a good way. Her eyes flew open, and they were glowing a dark blue. Harold knew then what was happening and got up, perplexed, but since it was happening right in front of him, he could do nothing else but watch.

Sarah didn’t know what was happening. It was like she was shifting for the first time. She was shifting into a lion! Harold couldn’t believe it. She was human. He would have known if she was something else. Why hadn’t he known?

“Sarah…”

She was screaming, her bones being broken and reformed for the first time. He remembered his first time quite clearly. The pain made sure of that. He wanted to go to her, but she wasn’t finished and there was no stopping it. There was nothing Harold could do but wait and be there for her when it was over.

By the time she was fully shifted, several minutes had gone by. Sarah’s blue eyes were the same, the color of the blond hair was the same, but everything else was different. Sarah was no longer human. He had never been more attracted to her. Now, he could have her for good.

Sarah passed out after a few swaying steps. He didn’t know if it was from the pain or from the realization of what she was. It was obvious that she hadn’t known five minutes before. How could she have gone through life and not known?

Harold went to her and laid next to her, trying to figure out what he was going to do now. He moved her hair out of her face and watched her sleep for a while.

“What am I going to do with you?”

Chapter 23

Sarah

Sarah woke up with her head fuzzy and a whole lot of memories that didn't make much sense. Her eyes stayed shut for quite some time because the light was just unbearable on them. She wanted to know what happened, but at the same time, Sarah wasn't necessarily looking forward to finding out. She couldn't hide it forever, though. Harold’s voice came from beside her and told her that he knew she was awake.

“How did you know that?”

Her eyes popped open, and she blinked several times, before her eyes were used to the light and not hurting so much.

“Because my kind, our kind, is heavy in the senses. Your heart rate started to pick up and then started to panic, then it started to go even faster. When you're sleeping, it doesn't really do that unless you're having a bad dream. But it doesn't go so fast.”

Sarah didn't know what to say to that. There were several problems with his statement. First, what was their kind? What did that mean? The second question was, how did he know so much about her when she was sleeping?

What the hell was going on? She had gone from the most intense pleasure that she’d ever felt in her life, to nothingness, and now just confusion. Nothing made sense and Harold staring down at her wasn't helping. He had this look on his face, one that she couldn't quite understand.

“Do you want to tell me what happened?”

“Do you not remember? I am still trying to figure it out, to be honest. I have never met a shifter that took so long to shift for the first time. It's actually impossible, as far as I know. Are you sure that you didn't know deep down that you were? This hasn’t happened before?”

Sarah nodded her head quickly. “I'm pretty sure I would have known if I turned into a damn animal. I don't even remember what I was, but I remember paws, big ones. I was hoping that that was just a bad dream. Are you telling me that it wasn’t?”

“Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but it was definitely more than a dream. It’s real. You are a lion.”
