“What that means is we just got sanction from the shifter community. I would have married you going against the world, but now we don't have to. It will probably bring out problems later when it comes time to deal with the enemy, but I'm not worried about it. You shouldn’t be worried about it, either. Will you mate with me? Make me the happiest man for the rest of our lives?”
“Is that you asking me?”
He agreed. “It is, and I really hope that it’s your way of saying yes.” He chuckled. It was a nervous sound, and he was waiting for her answer. The anticipation was really starting to get to him. How easily she could completely crush him with just a few words. Instead, she elated him to new heights.
“Yes.” She answered and finally he was going to have her. He pulled her into a kiss and they kissed for a moment and it was Nathan that pulled away finally.
“We have much to do.”
“Why do I keep hearing about two days? What happens in two days?”
He chuckled at her. “Why, we get married.”
She looked at him and motioned that she didn't believe him.
“What don't you believe?”
“I don't know. I just... This is crazy, you know? You want to get married in two days?”
“Yeah. I know it's crazy, but sometimes you have to go and do something crazy. It is the sanest option that we have. That is what is happening here. You want to marry me, don't you?”
She agreed, nodding her head.
“You want me to keep making you feel good for the rest of your life, don't you?”
He got a tremble and a glare from that.
“Then this is what has to happen. Before you know it, we will be married, and I will be able to give you what you have been asking for so adamantly. Neither one of us will have to wait any longer.”
Now, he was really close to her and she was staring at his lips, waiting for him to kiss her. When he didn't and pulled away, she made a whining sound. It looked like he was hiding a big smile and that bothered her. He shouldn’t be smiling, at least not that big.
“I think that we should wait until the ceremony. Don't you?”
She sighed loudly, like she wasn’t sure about that at all. “When is it again?”
“Two days.”
“That seems like a really long time.”
He chuckled and agreed just as quickly. “Yeah. You can definitely say that.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to check into another hotel and take a shower with me? You can maybe show me how you please with the mouth. Maybe I can try on you…”
He shook his head. Nathan went white and stepped back. “No, there is no way that I will be able to stop. You have to know that it is a horrible idea. What are you doing to me, Laurel?”
“Do we really have to wait?”
They were supposed to wait. That was the old ways and even though Nathan didn't really quite understand the reasoning behind it, he just knew that he wanted it to be that way. If he was to believe what had been told to him, maybe it was because he was supposed to become the Alpha of a clan. Leader of a practically mythical clan that he had only heard of in passing and through legends. Lyrics supposed them to be fearsome warriors and before long, it would all start to come into place. Sort of.
“Yes, I want everything to be perfect. You are going to become my Queen. Tempting me is just making it harder on the both of us.”
“Are you sure if we gave in, it wouldn’t be easier?”
Before she could ask any more questions, he just kissed her, taking her breath away and making sure that neither one of them were thinking about anything at all. The part that she was so desperately waiting for was days away, but she didn’t want to wait. Laurel felt like she was going to explode.
Chapter 17
Laurel invited Star to the ceremony, even though she wasn’t too sure how her biological mother was going to play into her new life. She didn’t even know her and nothing made sense to her. She wanted time to think it all through, but it was impossible. The full moon was that evening and that was the time. If not, they would have to wait for another one, and neither Laurel nor Nathan were going to be able to do that.
