She felt the heat of his gaze upon her.
"We'll file for a divorce today. Get Alex to Reyna. I'll get it done. All smoothly, I promise," He said.
Amelia struggled for words. She couldn't believe this moment was real and that she was escaping this abominable life, finally leaving the misery behind her.
She finally nodded and caught Marco beaming.
He rose to his feet. "Come on, get dressed. I'll get a shower. And then we'll leave."

They left the chambers hand in hand, still laughing at a ridiculous joke Marco told her when Amelia's eyes fell on Mark. He was sitting with his back to her, enjoying a drink to himself. Amelia instantly ran up to him.
"Hi!"
She caught him by surprise, and when he finally figured it was her, a smile broke across his lips.
"Hi, sweetie!" He pulled her in a tight hug. "How have you been?"
"Definitely better." She nodded. She gestured to her right, "Mark, this is my friend, Marco. Marco, this is Mark."
Marco gave him a stiff nod and turned towards the door. Amelia looked after him in confusion.
"I'm waiting in the car outside," he said over his shoulder.
After exchanging a few words with Mark, Amelia rushed outside. A jet-black Mercedes waited at the entrance, Marco sitting at the wheel, sleek fingers clicking at the steering wheel.
Amelia got into the car and locked the belt in place. Marco sat quietly for a moment; his eyes still fixed on the road.
"You could have told me that you are seeing someone. Leading me along all this time?" He finally looked at her.
Amelia was confused.
"Huh?"
"Who was that man, Amelia?"
"Mark is a friend. Marco."
"Oh, like I'm just a friend.'" Marco's face twisted into a grimace.
Amelia fell silent. "What else should I have said? I don’t understand."
Marco turned his face away from her, anger wafting off him.
Amelia reached for his face, holding it in her hands. "Hey, hey, look at me. You're my man, okay?"
Marco pulled her into a rushed kiss. “Remember you are only mine now.”

Later the following day, they were at Marco's house, when he felt a sharp pain tear through his mind. Marco held his ground for a few seconds, listening to the voice in his head, in horror. As soon as his wolf-mate stopped speaking, Marco slumped in a near chair, shell-shocked.
He caught Amelia watching him in concern.
He instantly rose to his feet and made for the door.
