Allison rolled her eyes when Brandon left. She was alone in the cabin. And just like her father, he strongly imposed that she was not allowed to go out and wander, promising to bring news when he returned.

The storm lasted for three days and two nights. And it took her all that time to think about all the things Brandon told her. She didn’t want to believe that werewolves existed. But she didn’t have a choice. She was a daughter of a wolf – an Alpha – who leads his own pack.

She felt like her entire life was a lie. She didn’t even know if her mother was really dead or if it was just part of her father’s act. And to find answers to the questions inside her head, she needed to find her father.

Where are you, Dad? Please come back…

Feeling her phone vibrating, Allison knew it was another call from Franklin. He had been exaggerating things, telling her to come back to the mansion immediately.

But her decision was final. She would not leave the forest without her father – not now that she had so many questions for him.

Over the days she spent with Brandon, she was able to get to know him a bit better. She learned that he had also been following her when she was away from home. She didn’t want to believe him at first. But she didn’t have a choice when he showed her all the photos he had taken ever since she was little.

“Remember the man on the last day of your school back in Australia?” Branden asked with that intimidating smile on his face.

“No. Don’t tell me you are that savior.”

“It was me.”

Allison was slightly surprised, but it was not as hard to believe now that she had learned that the most surprising things, which she had just watched in movies and TV shows, were happening in her real life. “Okay, if it was you, how could you leave me in that condition on the roadside alone?” she asked, looking deep into Brandon’s eyes. And her beautiful eyes were definitely melting Brandon’s iron heart.

“No, you were not alone. I saw your best friend Joanna a few feet away. And I called your Aunt Mia, who is not actually your aunt. She was hired by your father to protect you,” Brandon said, fighting the urge to kiss her and embrace her innocence in his strong arms.

“I knew that. I knew that the very first day that she could not be my aunt. She was more like a cruel jailor,” Allison stressed, and Brandon laughed at her cute expressions.

“She was there to take care of you and to keep you safe.”

Allison rolled her eyes, but now she had found her savior, “Thanks for saving me.”

“It’s my duty to protect you.”

Brandon was like her secret bodyguard.Hot and gorgeous secret bodyguard, her mind corrected.

Brandon told her about how her father turned him into a“hybrid.”

Brandon told her when he was eighteen, he’d had a car accident on the highway near Wakerlin. Nobody was around to get him help. He had lost so much blood because of his injuries: a fractured leg, cranial hemorrhage, and internal injuries. And the only thing he could remember was the pain killing him and the sudden light feeling – that was when he saw a pair of gray eyes. And the rest was history…

Brandon was an extremely gorgeous man. She drooled over the memory of Brandon cutting wood with his axe when his strong muscles popped out. He was strongly built and rough around the edges.

Smiling foolishly, Allison laid on the couch. It smelt of Brandon – a mixture of his human and wolf scent. Surprisingly, she didn’t have the difficulty of accepting that he was half and half. Maybe because she had seen him transform a lot of times over the past few days, and she couldn’t contradict what she was seeing.

And she couldn’t deny that he was handsome. And sexy.

But then she mulled over the memories she shared with her missing father, hoping that they could share more. She knew that there had been something weird about him on the morning of her birthday, but she refused to think too much. And because of that, she was blaming herself. She should have asked him what was wrong. She should have been keener and more observant of his words and actions before he went missing.

She should have…

Yawning, she looked out of the glass windows. It had started raining again. It was a relief that there was no lightning or thunder. She could be at peace.

The wolves are safe, she thought mindlessly. And when did she start caring for the wolves?

Lazily, Allison closed her eyes and decided to take a nap. She would be obedient to Brandon since he had been nothing but nice to her over the days they were together. And she could see the sincerity in his eyes whenever he spoke about her dad. He cared for her dad, and she had respect for him for that.

Allison’s little nap was cut off when she heard a loud bang on the door. Alarmed, she shot up from the couch and readied herself for the intruder.
