I roll over, punching my pillow into a more comfortable shape. What am I even doing thinking about him like this? I’m a single mom with two kids and more baggage than a 747. The last thing I need is to be fantasizing about my hot neighbor.
I haven’t been living under a rock. I know all about the Jacksonville Saints. Everyone in Jacksonville does their damnedest to stay out of their way.
We moved out of the projects to get away from all the crime. Now here we are living next door to a criminal.
I bite my lip. Is that the kind of man I want around my boys?
But he was so patient with them. Tommy said he let him help with whatever it was on the bike. And Jackson said he was nice, which is Jackson speak for he didn’t get aggravated when my boyasked a million questions. Most people don’t have the patience for Jackson’s curiosity.
Biting my lip again, I remember the heat in his eyes when he looked at me. It’s been so long since a man looked at me like that.
I feel the ache between my legs.
Six years is a long time to go without a man’s touch.
As sleep finally starts to pull me under, I can’t help but wonder what those big, strong hands would feel like on my skin.
What that sexy mouth would taste like against mine.
I close my eyes with a smile on my face.
Living next door to Dread might not be so bad after all.
CHAPTER FOUR
DREAD
“Yo.”
I glance over to Reign, gesturing at the sheet of drywall we just hung.
“You think it needs replacing?”
I squint at the small crack near the corner and shake my head. It’s just a hairline imperfection.
“Nah.” I shake my head. “I’ll skim some mud over it, and it’ll be fine.”
He nods and turns back to what he was doing as I sink another screw into the stud, securing another sheet to the wall in Morpheus’s garage.
“So...” Reign lines up another screw of his own. “Meet your new neighbors yet?”
My heart picks up speed at the mention of my sexy new neighbor. Images of dark auburn hair and subtle curves that make this Saint wanna sin in all the best ways flood through my mind.
Jesus.
I thought about Honey all night, which is fucking ridiculous.
I don’t even know the girl. I mentally cringe at the thought of her as a girl. But the facts are the fucking facts. She might have two kids, but she’s gotta be every bit of at least ten years younger than my thirty-six years.
“Judging by the look on your face, I’m guessing that you did.” Reign smirks.
“Yeah,” I grunt.
Reign chuckles as Morpheus walks in carrying another sheet of drywall.
The VP raises an eyebrow as he leans the heavy board against the wall. “What’s funny?”
Reign dips his head in my direction. “I asked Dread if he’s met his new neighbor yet, and he got all dreamy-eyed.”
