“I don’t think so, but again, if they’re in human form, how would I know?”

“I can help with that,” Rylee said. “I can smell them. If you identify where people are even by pointing, I might be able to discern what species they are.”

“She’s right,” Hayes added. “And if we did this one day with Molly, she might be able to listen in and provide more details.”

It was all so mindboggling.

Isaac rubbed her chest between her breasts. “Do you want to shift and try again so we’ll know if your wolf can see more than your human?”

“Yes, Sir.” When he released her, she took a few steps away from him, closed her eyes, and let the shimmer take her from her human form to her wolf. She was surprised by how easy it was. After all, this was only her second shift.

Starting over, she concentrated on everything she’d seen the first time. For a few minutes, it all looked the same, but then she paused as she scanned the homes she assumed belonged to the bears.

A tingling sensation crawled up her spine kind of like it had earlier when she’d suddenly seen Isaac and Hayes through the walls. She focused on one home until suddenly the walls seemed to dissolve in front of her.

She’d never be able to describe what this sensation was like. It felt like a portal opened up, parting the barriers, allowing her to see inside the home. There were two people inside. They were sitting in the living room. The woman was reading. The man was rubbing her feet in his lap. They were both smiling, and she got the impression they’d been together a long time. They were comfortable in their silence.

It wasn’t that she could hear or not hear them, but she could see specifically that no one’s mouth was moving. It felt invasive. At some point, she was going to catch people naked or having sex. She would be mortified beyond belief, not to mention scarred for life.

When the man grabbed the woman’s ankle and dragged her closer to him, she fell onto her back on the couch. He rose up, planted a knee between hers, and bent to kiss her.

Amber closed her eyes and jerked her attention to the ground in front of her. Yeah, she was obviously going to glimpse into far too many aspects of people’s lives. She could always turn away when something extremely private happened in her line of sight, but they couldn’t know that. If she were a voyeur, no one would be able to stop her spying.

Apparently it was the same for Molly. Could Rylee scent sex on the air?Yikes.

Amber jerked her gaze in another direction, trying to see farther. Except for the territory where they all knew the bearsresided, she didn’t see anything else at that distance. It was kind of disappointing. She’d been hoping she might spot any form of human life far beyond the Alpha Protector’s homes, but it wasn’t happening today.

That meant she was no help at all in locating anyone who could possibly be a lion shifter.

Finally Amber shifted back. She sighed. “No lions.”

Isaac rubbed her back. “That’s okay, Little one. None of us expected you to see lions. It was a longshot. What did you see that made you wince and turn another direction?”

She cringed as she looked down. “My wolf can see slightly better than my human. I could see inside those homes. Now I know who’s home and who’s at that gathering. I’m going to have to be careful, or I’ll see things I can’t unsee.”

Isaac lifted her up and hugged her. “Good point. All you can do when that happens is look away.”

She set her head on his shoulder. “I’m exhausted, Daddy.”

He rubbed her back. “I bet you are. You need more sleep. Let’s get you back to bed.”

Rylee gave a little wave as her Daddy guided her in the direction of their house. “I’ll see you again soon.”

Amber waved back. “Thanks for coming.” She was so grateful that Isaac let her friend come visit. It was clearly unconventional, and it might be a while before she saw Rylee or anyone else again.

She fully understood now why Alpha Protectors liked to take several weeks off to be alone with their mates. As soon as Rylee and Hayes shifted and trotted away, the air around Amber and her Daddy changed. She felt restless. Almost itchy.

She grabbed her Daddy’s face and met his gaze. “I’m not tired, Daddy, but I do need you to take me back to bed.”

He grinned as he hurried back into the house, shutting and locking the door behind him. He carried her straight through tothe bedroom and dropped her in the middle of the bed from high enough that she bounced.

She giggled as she turned around and crawled toward him. Her attention lowered to the bulge in the front of his jeans. “I need to taste you, Daddy.”

He growled, his voice deep and loud enough to shake the walls. Staring at her like he intended to devour her, he started removing his clothes. “Dress off, Little mate.”

She rose onto her knees and pulled it over her head.

He whisked his shirt off at the same time. As his hands went to the button on his jeans, he narrowed his gaze. “Panties, too, Little one. They’re soaked. I want you to bring them to my nose.”
