“Count your orgasms for me, then.” He slid his hands to her breasts, rolling her nipples as they settled into a rhythm. “I want to test how many you can handle.”
“Yes, sir.” She kissed him seductively, their lips and tongues dancing in harmony. “One.”
“Already?” he peered at her face, and realizing she was telling the truth, he released her breast to pinch her clit.
“Yes, oh my god. Yes!”sheshouted assheexploded, tightening so intensely aroundhimthathehad to fight not to spill insideherand ruinherplans. “Oh god, I’ll never tire of how it feels with you.” She leanedher headback on his shoulder as she floated down from her high. “And yes, already. That was one, but I want to keep going.”
“Oh, we will.” Cash kissed her throat. “That was just the warm-up.”
“Cash, wake up!” Something shook his shoulder as a beautiful voice jarred him awake, and their night came rushing back to him when he saw Sable’s face hovering over him. He’d been beyond excited to wake next to her, but this was not the morning he’d imagined. Why on earth was she panicking?
“We overslept,” she giggled, and Cash realized two things simultaneously. His soulmate’s perfect breasts and the sunlight.
“Shit!” He bolted upright, tucking the thoughts of making love to Sable away for another morning. They’d fucked in the shower last night until the water ran cold, just like she’d wanted, and then they’d wandered into the kitchen for a late dinner. They’d eaten picnic-style on his living room floor, the amazing conversation leading to even more amazing sex, and it had been almost dawn when they finally collapsed into bed. Cash had set an alarm so that he would wake with enough time to say a proper goodbye to Sable before he picked up his son. For Clover’s sake, they’d decided she shouldn’t sleep over when the boy was present until they’d been together for a while. They both knew they were in this for the long haul, but they wished to provideClover with stability as his life of ten years changed. They agreed she wouldn’t sleep over or visit every night until the boy had witnessed them in a healthy relationship that could withstand all hardships.
Which meantthis was the last time she would spend the night for a while, but they’d overslept. At this rate, he wasn’t even sure he would make it to Aron’s house before the school bell, and Cash bolted for his closet.
“Sable, I’m so sorry. I hate running out on you like this, but Clover doesn’t have his homework or clean clothes.”
“Don’t sweat it.” Her voice sounded strange. “Clover is more important right now.”
“Thanks for understanding.” He shoved his feet into his boots as he raced down the hall to his son’s room, and he realized why Sable sounded odd. She was downstairs in the kitchen. The scent of coffee coiled through the air, and he envied her. She could stay here and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, but he had to show up empty-handed to his kid and hungry for his job.
“I’ll text you when I get settled at work.” Cash flew into the kitchen and smiled at the sight that met him. Sable wore one of his dress shirts and nothing else, and she looked so at home in his house that he longed for the day when this was how every morning started.
“I need to go.” He caught her waist and pulled her away from the counter. She slid her hands up his chest, and he paused to enjoy the sensation before kissing her. “Take your time here. No need for both of us to rush.”
“Have a good day at work, Mr. Rabbit’s Foot,” she teased.
“I will as long as there’s cash in my wallet,” he said, grabbing his car keys. “I need to give Clover money for lunch since I don’t have time to pack anything.”
“No need.” Sable grabbed something off the counter, and Cash finally noticed the two plastic grocery bags. “I couldn’tfind coolers or a lunchbox, so these will have to do. Coffee for dad.” She shoved a thermos into his hands. “And both bags have a peanut butter English muffin for your breakfasts, and turkey and cheese sandwiches for your lunches.”
“You made us breakfast and lunch?” He had not been expecting that.
“Yeah.” she shrugged. “I have a lot of siblings, so mornings were always chaos, especially if my brothers got to the bathroom before me. This morning was nothing compared to the battlefield that was running late growing up, so I figured I would put my training to use.”
“Thank you.” Cash kissed her one last time. This woman was going to change his life, and if someone had told him a year ago that he’d be intensely grateful for a heist game and a thief come to rob him blind, he would’ve driven them to the doctor himself to get their heads examined. Yet here he was, thanking the universe for sending him a blessing with bunny ears. “You saved my morning.”
“Yeah, well…” she shrugged, her blush so cute that it physically hurt to leave her. “We’re going to be a family, and this is what families do. We take care of one another.”
ONE YEAR LATER
Sable dropped to the floor and held her breath, waiting for the alarms to alert the bank to her presence, but all was silent—business as usual.
“I’m in,” she whispered.
“That was almost too easy,” Peter said through her earpiece.
“I know. I’d hoped for more of a challenge.” She scanned the endless rows of safe deposit boxes. “Although let’s not get too cocky yet. These might be wired.”
“I doubt it,” Peter said. “Security here is a joke. This bank didn’t leave their defenses wide openjustto arm these.”
“You never know.” Sable shrugged as if her partner could see her. “So, any suggestions on which I should open first?”
“Try box 441,” he said. “I have a hunch.”
Sable slipped silently across the floor to safe deposit box 441 and withdrew her lock picks. It took her a matter of minutes to defeat the mechanism, and she removed the metal rectangle from the wall with a triumphant smile.
