“I’ll follow, babe. Love you too,” I replied and swung up onto my Harley. I winced a little as my leg twinged. For now, I could ride on two wheels. Sooner or later, I’d need a trike like Axel rode. Thank fuck, Harley did cool ones.

Rosie pulled out with one last lingering look at our former home. It had been sold to Jan, who was taking over the practice here. He was over the moon about becoming a partner. And I knew Rosie trusted Kenny and Jon, as well as him, to run her beloved sanctuary and vet surgery. I gazed back at the house.

There were a lot of mixed feelings, and I was unsure how to feel. I’d fallen in love, recuperated twice there, and my children had been brought home here. It had contained our dreams and had seen many come to fruition.

“Thank you,” I muttered before facing forward and riding away.

???

“Take them to the clubhouse before I tie them down!” Rosie threatened me eight hours later.

She was looking pretty murderous, and I knew why. I’d followed her all the way here, and the noise coming from the car was horrendous. Malachi and Erin hadn’t calmed down at all, and I wasn’t confused about why she needed some space.

Penny and Texas pulled up, and Rosie took one look at Texas and burst into tears. He was off his bike in a second and wrapping his girl up in his arms. Texas’s glower encompassed me and should have killed me.

“What did you do to her?”

“Sugared the brats up before we left,” I admitted. Texas’s lips twitched as he glanced at the three kids all snoring in the back of Rosie’s SUV.

“Oh, shit,” he muttered.

“How about we take them tonight?” he offered.

“Not fuckin’ happening,” Penny snarled. “Texas did the same to ours. Tonight, you two fuckers are taking them to the clubhouse, and Rosie and I are getting takeaway and opening at least two bottles of wine. Now fuck off!”

Wow, Penny was pissed! Rosie pulled away from Texas and glared at her father. I wondered how many more of the brothers were in the doghouse. Quite a few, I realised when I heard Mina scream that she was going to kill Hunter. Damn, had we all been assholes and sugared the children up?

Oh, well. I woke up Malachi and Zara, who looked at me like I’d committed murder. Yeah, now they wanted peace and quiet. Tough.

“Come on, kids,” I murmured, grabbing their overnight bags.

“Dad,” Malachi whined and yawned.

“No. Tough, you made your mother’s life hell on the way down. Now you pay the price,” I threatened him. Malachi’s face settled into a glower that reminded me of his grandfather. Texascurrently wore a matching scowl, and I snickered and quickly stopped when Rosie spun on me like a tempest.

“Bye!” she bit out as I heard Oakley cussing out Harley close by. I guess that was my cue to cut and run!

Rosie

Mina appeared carrying a crate of wine and a look that made Calamity hustle his ass.

“You got furniture?” she demanded.

“It should arrive soon,” I said.

“Let’s get everyone over, and we’ll sort your house out and order pizza and get legless, as in absolutely rip-roaring drunk,” she declared. Hunter nodded feverishly as he began helping my fur babies out of the car.

“Leave them! We’ll manage them!” Mina snapped. Hunter hung his head sheepishly and moved away with the children.

“Sugared up?” Penny asked in sympathy.

“Yeah. Only, Darcie and Gracie threw up five times! I don’t know what Hunter fed them, but I don’t do pink puke!” Mina declared.

“Holy shit, your car!”

“Oh, Hunter’s going to detail it, trust me,” Mina promised.

“Let’s get your fur babies,” Penny said as I headed toward the rear of my SUV. Luckily for me, they were all in cages.
