“Your breathing changed.”
And just like that he’s asleep again, making those soft and utterly adorable almost-snores.
I’ve always envied him the ability to wake up and drop off as quickly as he does. Apparently, when he worked for the Secret Service, it was a skill he honed because of long hours and irregular downtime when in the field and working protective detail assignments. Doesn’t matter how bright or noisy the environment, either. He can fall asleep on a bouncing aircraft or in the loudest hotel room. I’ve even witnessed him doze off for cat naps while standing up.
Closing my eyes I snuggle in and try to relax and take long, deep breaths. Jordan is usually an extremely light sleeper. Over the years I’ve noticed if Leo’s in bed with us the boy unconsciously switches off those instincts and trusts in our Owner.
When I next awaken it’s because Jordan’s kissing me and I smell coffee. I open my eyes to find him smiling at me, still wearing his leather collar but now also wearing sweats and a T-shirt. He’s set a tray of three coffee mugs on the nightstand on my side.
Behind me, Leo chuckles. “Was it the smell of coffee or the kiss that woke you, pet?”
I look back to find Leo smiling. I lean in for a kiss from him. “Both.”
“It’s only seven,” Jordan says. “I suspect there’s no workout in your plans.”
I roll to face Leo, noting the various twinges of pain throughout my body, good and bad. “Not today,” I admit as Leo snuggles me in his arms. “Let’s do this instead.”
“Excellent plan,” Leo says. “Can you put in a breakfast casserole, boy?” he asks Jordan.
“I put it together last night and just popped it into the oven, Daddy.”
“Look at you, thinking ahead. Good boy. Now get your ass naked and back in this bed.”
I hear Jordan stripping and his clothes hitting the floor. A moment later he rounds the bed, his mug of coffee in hand, and rejoins us.
“We all alone up here, boy?” Leo asks.
“Yes, Daddy. I double-checked. Just the detail at the exits.”
Meaning they likely saw Jordan wearing his collar.
Jordan and Leo have few qualms about Secret Service agents seeing us in dishabille. It’s something I wish I felt as casually about as they do.
If you haven’t noticed, I have some…emotional issues. Anxiety.
Fortunately for me my men love me despite that. Together they have the combined patience of a dozen Jobs.
“How long are you here today?” I ask Leo.
“As long as you need me, pet. I took the whole day off. And before you go feeling guilty, Shae and Chris don’t need me today. They’re staying home and ordered me to take the day off.”
Tipping my head back to look into his eyes, I see he’s smiling. “Spooky how you read my mind like that.”
Behind him Jordan snorts. “Not difficult with you, boy,” he snarks. Leo makes a sudden movement and Jordan saysOWbefore he giggles. I’m guessing Leo pinched him. “Sorry, Daddy. Not difficult with you, pet.”
Leo lets out a put-upon sigh. “The correct answer for you in this situation would beEl, but I guess it is difficult for you to not think of him asboyorpet, either way.”
“You gotthatright,” Jordan mutters as he takes a sip of coffee.
Leo chooses to let that snark slide and releases me so we can both sit up. I pass him his mug of coffee before taking mine.
As usual, Jordan’s prepared them perfectly.
I lean against Leo as we sip our coffee, savoring these quiet moments. This is as close as I get to a day off. Jordan schedules downtime so I don’t get burnt out but that doesn’t always coincide with when Leo’s available to join us.
Unfortunately, that means Jordan doesn’t get days off either, even though he’s able to sneak away and spend the occasional evening with Leo.
“Whatistoday, anyway?” I finally ask, realizing I don’t know.
