We untangle ourselves and head to the master bathroom, where we strip and climb into the soaking tub together. Like this, sandwiched between them, I can close my eyes and pretend I don’t have the weight of the free world resting on my shoulders. It’s the closest thing I get to a day off.

Tomorrow will be fucking crazy dealing with our families. I don’t know how Mom and Dad will feel after having a night to think about this. And Leo’s parents might not be very happy, considering they thought Leo and Jordan were an item.

I mean, theyarean item, but—well, you know what I mean.

Meanwhile, I still have a country to run, even if Casey-Marie and Jordan purposefully kept my daily schedule light.

“We’ll get you through it, boy,” Jordan says. “You focus on your job and let Sir and me focus on the optics. We’ve got you.”

My soul finally feels complete. “Thank you, Sir.”

CHAPTERFORTY-NINE

I cannot tellyou how good it feels waking up in bed with Jordan and Leo and knowing we don’t have to sneak Leo out of the White House, or proactively worry about having excuses ready in case someone comments on his presence.

Not that they ever have, but have youmetme?

With this secret out, I can just…be.

Jordan rises first, as he usually does, to prepare our coffee and grab his clothes for today.

Leaving me and Leo in bed together.

Leo pulls me tightly against him and kisses me. “Good morning, pet.”

I grin. “Good morning, Master.”

He stares into my eyes, his smile fading. “I knew I was right to wait you out. I always had faith one day you’d finally overcome your fear.”

“And we wouldn’t have Jordan if I hadn’t been a dumbass.”

That makes Leo smile again, something that sets my soul afire. “He is pretty handy to have around.” Leo’s playful smirk tells me the truth.

“Yeah, he is.” I kiss him. “Love you, Leo. Thank you for Jordan.”

He wistfully sighs. “Glad you two finally found your footing. I love both of you and can’t imagine life without both of you in it.”

“Me, either.”

He pokes me. “How long has he had that ring?”

I smile. “Since November. I asked his permission to propose before the hike, but…”

He slowly nods. “Up on the overlook. I wondered if there was something up.”

“You…did?”

He snorts. “You were so fucking nervous, fidgeting all over.”

“And here I thought it’d be a surprise.”

“Oh, I was surprised that day, all right. Just not in the way any of us anticipated.”

Jordan and Leo help me get ready, Leo taking great pains picking out our matching ties and dressing both of us after he pulls on jeans and a button-up. We’ve got an hour before my parents arrive. After my parents leave I’m sure he’ll change into something more comfy, but he plans on hanging out in the residence for a couple of hours before his parents arrive while I try to get some work done.

Casey-Marie arrives. “Good morning, Mister President. Ready to face the Thunderdome today?”

I start laughing. “The Thunderdome?”
