Which, of course, the irony is that I’m ceding control of my life to Daniel and Liam.
We opt not to eat dinner before returning home, because Daniel says there’s plenty of food there.“Plus, I’m exhausted.I want a chance to collapse and relax before the big guy gets home.”
Except when we arrive at the house, and Daniel helps me wrestle my suitcases out of the cab and up the front walk, we realize that’s not going to happen.
Liam opens the door and walks out, a huge smile on his face. He’s in sweats and a T-shirt, and he looks every bit as handsome as he did the day I first laid eyes on him in college.
“What are you doing home?”Daniel asks, sounding honestly shocked over his presence.
“I noped out of my meetings.I know, poor adulting on my part.I said I wasn’t feeling well and no one wanted to argue with me when I fake-coughed.”He grins.“Sorry, not sorry.”
He helps us with the luggage, and when the front door closes behind me, he grabs me and presses me against it to kiss me.“Hello, baby.”
“Hello, Master.”
“Ahem.”
Liam turns to where Daniel’s smirking, grabs him, and dips him as he kisses him before standing him upright again.“You’re a brilliant man, and I’m the luckiest asshole on the face of the planet.”
Then I realize I’m smelling…something.“Did you cook?”I ask.
“Guilty.Just spaghetti, but I thought you both would be hungry.”
Daniel’s expression softens as he looks up at Liam.“Thank you, Master.”
Liam blinks away tears and kisses him again.“I swear on my very life that I will never break your trust again.Ever.”
Daniel snorts and points at me.“Yeah, because he’ll rat you out if you try.”
“Damn right I will.”But I know I won’t need to.I heard the pain in Liam’s voice that day in the hideaway office when we first had sex after our reunion. The day I regretted going there alone with him, because I…knew.
I knew what would happen, and I knew I’d let it happen.Encourage and welcome it, even.
I’d needed my Master and I’d finally hit the end of my tether.
I’m not sharing him with anyone but Daniel, though.
We eat, and then they help me drag my bags upstairs, just to find…
Daniel stops in the doorway.“You bought a new bed?”
“You said we needed one.”But Liam’s all smiles.
The frame looks similar to the one they had, but it’s now a king-sized bed.
“When theHelldid you have time to—you know what?Never mind.Thankyou.”He turns and kisses Liam again.“It’s one less thing for me to take care of.”
“I bought the same mattress we had, only bigger. The one you loved.”
Watching them together leaves me breathless sometimes. In good ways, not bad ones.
Because I see so much of me in Daniel. And I know he’s taken good care of our Master throughout the years.Liam didn’t have to suffer alone for much of that time.I envy the time they’ve had together, but Liam is alive and happy and that means I’m at peace with how this played out.
Now, it’s time for me to repay the favor and take care of both of them, until they can retire.
I really don’t want another job.I don’tneedone. The money I inherited from Dad will take care of all three of us for the rest of our lives, and that’s before figuring in Liam’s and Daniel’s salaries and savings.Unlike my father, I don’t have lavish tastes.
Besides, I’ll be living with my men and chipping in to help pay monthly expenses. My job can be taking care of them and making their lives easier.
