I walked over to the side of the bed, with my phone in my hands. I was going to hit Rico back, but before I did, I stared at her, prepared to ask her something.

“Where your birth control at?” I wanted to know.

“Home,” she replied.

“I used to see you take that shit at night around me. I haven’t seen you take a pill in a few days. I really can’t even remember the last time I saw you take one,” I said.

“I took one a couple of days ago. When I go back home tomorrow, I’ll catch up for the couple of days I missed,” she said, and I laughed at that.

“I don’t think that’s how that works, baby. When your period supposed to come?” I asked.

“Sometime next week,” she said, not knowing the day because she wasn’t keeping up with it.

“And if it don’t come, then what?” I questioned.

“Then it’ll just be late because your stressing me the fuck out,” she spat, picking a pillow up, and she threw it at me.

“Yeah, aight. Get your rest. I feel it in my gut that your period not coming next week. We’ll see though,” was all I said.

“What are you implying Tavion?” she asked.

“I’m not implying shit. We’ll find out next week,” I said, leaning over, so that I could kiss her on her forehead.

She didn’t say anything else after that. I walked away from her, and I went back into the bathroom. The dirty clothes that I had in here, I picked them up, and placed them in my walk- in closet, that was adjacent to the bathroom. I tossed them in the hamper.

I took the water out of the tub and straightened up the bathroom a little bit. When I finished, I went over to the sink, so that I could put deodorant under my arms, and I washed my face, along with brushing my teeth. By the time I finished doing those things, Dionne had fallen asleep. I knew that I needed to hit my cousin back, and I didn’t want to have to do that while she was sleeping, interrupting her, so I grabbed my phone, and I walked out of the room, closing it behind me.

I jogged down the stairs, and I went into the kitchen, going over to my stash, where I kept my drinks. I grabbed a cognac glass out of the cabinet and poured a glass of Hennessy. Once it was filled to my liking, I carried the glass over to the kitchen island, where I sat down, hit Rico back, and I placed the call on speaker, letting the phone sit on the island.

“Nigga, what you got going on?” is the way he answered the phone.

“I don’t have shit going on. What’s up?” I asked him.

“Your mugshot going viral on social media, and word got out that you had to stomp Toby out. Tank, I told you to stay the fuck out of that shit, nigga. I don’t want you getting in that. Let me handle him on my own,” Rico snapped at me, and I sucked my teeth, along with looking at the phone, as if he was crazy, and was sitting here, and could see my reaction.

“Rico, this didn’t have shit to do with you. That fuck nigga had been staring me down in the club the whole night. I didn’t even peep it at first. My girl had to tell me. Then, you came over, warning me that that nigga was down below too. I had no intentions of saying shit to him, especially not while I had my girl with me, and other innocent women in the section. When we were leaving the club, he parked his whip right next to mine. Shit was damn near on top of my car. Again, I had my girl with me, and she told me to leave it alone, so that’s what I did at first. He came at me, talking to me crazy. Nigga was talking reckless, called Dionne out her name and everything, so damn right I had to touch him. Fuck you think this is?” I spat.

Rico was silent. For at least five minutes, he chose not to say anything.

“I don’t think you understand how badly I want this nigga gone, Tank. Motha fucka is like a thorn in my fuckin side. I was hoping to have that shit handled this week. I was trying to put him down before my game tomorrow. I had a plan in motion, and everything. Pulled up on him at his crib, but I couldn’t do that shit because he was there with one of the little boys from the school that I spoke to a few months ago. I couldn’t do that shit while he was with a kid. All it took was for that bullet to go the wrong way, and now I’m responsible for ending an innocent little boy’s life. I know the kind of nigga that Toby is, Tank. People already going around saying that you beat his ass. I don’t know if this shit is true, but they saying you knocked his teeth out. He going to want to kill you. You gotta watch your back. Watch your girl back too. Dionne staying with you?” he asked.

The shit that he was saying wasn’t moving me in any kind of way. I didn’t fear that nigga. If I switched up anything that I was doing, I was going to make this the moment where I asked Dionne to move in with me because I just didn’t want that nigga to try any shit with her, while she was home alone.

“He know where to find me if he come looking. Ima let her move in with me. That way I can keep her protected,” I let him know. He didn’t say anything, but about two minutes later, he laughed.

“I heard you over there smacking some shit. What the fuck you doing to her?” he asked. I knew he was going to bring that up because he could hear Dionne loud and clear, moaning, while we were on the phone.

“Fuckin shit up. That’s what I do,” I boasted.

“I know that shit you did to Toby got her ready to leave your ass. Didn’t you say that she’s used to dating these bougie, old niggas? I know she ain’t ever dealt with a wild nigga before that had to beat a nigga ass outside of the club, and then get arrested for it,” he shot, and I didn’t want to laugh because I really did stress Dionne out tonight, but the shit he said caused me to chuckle.

“Man, I put her through it tonight, and honestly, I hate that shit. When we got together, one of the first things that she kepttelling me was that she lives a peaceful life, and how she didn’t want me to come into her life and cause disruption. I lowkey feel like shit get happening. She had that little shit with Renee at one point. She even thought that Rene was responsible for killing her dog. Now, Crystal’s ass decided to move to Maimi, and they exchanged words over the phone too. I just pray that they don’t see each other in public because I already know how that’s going to go. Now, the bullshit that happened tonight. I swear I hope her ass don’t leave me,” I was honest.

“I don’t think she’s going to live you big dawg. Like grandma be saying, you got her nose wide open. That girl loves you, man. I see it in the way ya’ll were vibing with each other in the club. Shit, I’m not a relationship expert or no shit like that, but I think all relationships supposed to come with its fair share of ups, and downs. Ya’ll going to be alright,” he let me know, and I nodded my head towards his words.

“Guess who got booked tonight too?” I asked him, changing the subject.

“Who?” he wanted to know.
