“You never used to ask permission,” I snap. Logan frowns.
“Feeling a little irritated, are we?”
“I’m fine,” I grumble. “Just…”
Missing you.
“Can I help you with something?” I manage to keep my voice steady as my eyes remain on my work. Logan circles around the desk, sliding in front of me. His hands cup my cheeks.
“Gray.”
“What.”
Instead of responding, Logan leans in, his mouth capturing mine. My eyes slide shut as he takes leisurely sips at my mouth, my lips chasing his as he pulls back.
“What was that for?”
He grins lopsidedly. “I missed you, too.”
Those soulful eyes burn into mine. “I think we’ll do it, you know,” he says quietly.
When I raise my brows questioningly, he waves his hand.
“I can feel it. Alicia, Erikkson… it’s just temporary, Gray. We’ll help Sienna pass the Trials, get them off our backs. And then…”
My chest constricts. “And then everyone will know.”
He cups my face. “It’s not such a bad thing, Gray,” he whispers. “Maybe I thought it would be, once, but now… I want to walk down the street with you. I want everyone to know you’re ours.”
“Ours?”
“Mine… and Sienna’s.” Logan’s cheeks flush a little.
“I’ve been painting,” he admits. “The two of you have given me plenty to work with.”
I sink back in my seat. “You sound so certain. We’ve fucked this up, Lo. From the start. We haven’t treated her the way we should’ve.”
His shoulders sag. “I know. It’s not the way any of us wanted it to happen. But it’ll come together.”
I hope he’s right. Leaning in, I rest my head against him, breathing in the comforting familiarity of his scent.
“I missed you,” I admit on a mutter. His laughter shakes against me.
“I know.”
“I don’t function without you.”
He pokes me. “I know that, too.”
When I glance up, his face looks a little worried.
“We should check on Sienna. I didn’t like the look of that leg.”
I frown. I thought it was just a bad scrape. “Was it that bad?”
He shrugs. “It wasn’t infected, but it looked like it might’ve gone that way if she’d left it. I cleaned it, wrapped it.”
I might love this alpha, but he’s the absolute worst at any kind of care. I watched him cut his hand open on glass once and put jello on it to ‘soothe the burn’.
