And I sure as hell found it.
Looking around, I make sure to keep a firm grip on my mate, not wanting her to get pushed around by the swell of people around us. She draws in a shuddering gasp that I pick up even over the noise – and then she’s gone, my hand grasping on empty air.
No.
The growl that erupts has more than a few of my fans stopping and backing away nervously. Beta they might be, but anybody knows to keep well back from a furious alpha – and I am livid.
I try to go after her, to follow her through the crowd, but despite the hesitancy of the people around me, the ones behind them have no issue pushing forward.
Belatedly, I realize the possible danger of a crowd crush, and my heart thuds in panic as I dart my head from side to side. Where the fuck has my Soul Bonded gone?
I catch a glimpse of pink hair by the exit, and my heart clenches.
“Stop!”
The bellow is furious, and she darts a look back at me, her eyes filled with… guilt?
Then she ducks outside, and just like that, I’ve lost her.
“Back the hell off,” I bark. “You’re causing a crush!”
Pushing my way to the bar, I haul myself over with help from Alex, the bartender, and grab the megaphone. A few clipped orders gets everyone to settle down with the promise of another song, but by the time I’m able to push my way outside, my Bonded is long gone.
“Fucking hell!” Cursing, I kick the side of the door and Jimmy gives me a funny look. “Everything alright, man?”
Hesitating, I wonder if he knows her, but dismiss it. I’ve never seen that girl before in my life, and I spend more time here than he does.
Shaking my head, I storm back inside, tugging the guitar angrily over my head as my bandmates look on in amusement.
“Er – Jax?” Mal, my drummer, asks slowly. “You okay?”
Gritting my teeth, I force a nod and head for the stage. “Let’s get this over with. I need to get home.”
And hunt down my missing Bonded.

SIENNA
Ifinally pause for breath, Jessalyn’s panicked voice ringing in my ears as she demands to know what’s wrong. She caught me by the doors, following me without a word of complaint as I ran past Jimmy and down the street.
Holding up a hand, I force my words out between my pants.
“I’m –heh– okay –ngh– just – second –heh.”
I am not built for running.
I collapse onto the ground, leaning back against the wall of a building as I try desperately to catch my breath. Jess eases herself down beside me, giving me the stink-eye as I get myself under control.
It’s not just my flight from the club.
I’m Soul Bonded. To Jax Cohen.
And if the rumor holds true, it means I’m probably Soul Bonded to the rest of his pack too.
“Holy fucking shit!” I blurt out. Jess slaps her hands down on her legs.
“That’s it! Tell me what’s going on, Si. Do you know how worried your dad is gonna be when we’re not there? We’re going to have to run back!”
