The hall is deserted, the faint sound of a television echoing from the living room they pointed out earlier. I wonder if Nate and Axel are here. What Hudson and Cade will tell them about this evening.

God, Axel is going to be so angry at me for lying.

Cringing, I sidle out and make a beeline for the bathroom next door, slipping inside and resting my back against the door.

My mouth parts.

Gleaming blue and gold tiles line the far wall, artfully shaped in curved lines like a mermaid’s tail, framing a huge floor length shower with a gleaming golden head. The white bathtub with golden feet has matching taps, a dark wooden shelf placed carefully across it.

It takes just a few minutes for the tub to fill, steam swirling from it in lazy whirls. Sniffing one of the tubs lined up on the wooden counter, I pour a healthy dollop of bubble bath in, breathing in the scent of raspberries.

The feel of my feet sinking into the blissfully hot water draws a groan from my lips. It bounces around the room, echoing slightly in the space as I sink beneath the water.

Heaven. This is absolutely what heaven looks like.

Forget the harps, the angels, the pearly gates. Heaven is a steaming hot bath after the longest day in history.

Reaching for the shampoo, I lather up my hair, rinsing it with the showerhead helpfully connected.

For a pack of bachelor alphas, they sure are set up for everything an omega might need.

Selecting one of the gigantic fluffy towels from a wicker basket, I dry off my hair and wrap it around myself before I carefully make my way back to my room, keeping an eye out for wandering alphas.

Once I’m ensconced, I slip on the camisole and brush out my hair, tying it back into a sleek braid before I slip under the thick covers of the bed.

Oh.Oh.

I’m cocooned in warm silk, the gauzy curtains above me creating the sensation of an enclosed space. The only thing I can hear is my quiet breathing as I sink into the warm sheets.

It feels like how I always imagined a nest might feel.

I’ve never had one before. Never been able to make one. First by law, then by circumstance.

But this… my toes wriggle happily against the blankets. This, I could get used to.

But it’s only temporary.

The thought threatens to jar me out of my peaceful snuggling, but the events of the day are catching up to me. Hell, the events of the last eight weeks are hitting me like a sledgehammer.

Yawning widely, I let my eyes slide shut.

That’s definitely a problem for tomorrow’s Gabrielle.

ChapterThirty-One

Axel

“Shewhat?”

My arms twitch at my sides, shock flooding me as Nate and I jump to our feet.

Cade’s mouth is turned down in a frown, Hudson next to him as he explains how they found out Gabrielle was living at the fuckingdungeon.

Nate starts to pace. “She’s been on her own, all this time?”

I can understand his anger. I feel the same way.

How did wemissthis?
