I think we’ve just blown the concept ofmoving slowlyout the window, but somehow, I can’t bring myself to regret what we’ve just shared.
His smirk is a beautiful thing as he rolls onto his side next to me, blowing out a breath.
“I could do that every day,” he says dreamily. “Breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
I choke. “I don’t think I’d live past lunchtime.”
Nate’s delighted laugh warms my skin. A slight breeze brushes over us, making me shiver as I realize that my lower half is pretty much completely bared to the elements, thanks to Nate’s overzealous approach. I cover my face with my arm as I groan.
“We broke the bodysuit. Juan definitely won’t invite me back.”
Nate chuckles as he sits up, carefully lifting me as he squeezes me into him.
“I broke the bodysuit.” His words are mischievous. “And I wouldn’t be so sure.”
As it turns out, Nate is right.
Once I’m dressed in my normal clothes and Nate has let everyone back in, Juan waltzes over with a smile.
“Darling,” he purrs. “You were an experience. Alpha and omega pairings are adream. Just look at these!”
My chest flutters as I glance down at the camera screen, taking in the shots of Nate and I together.
“The pheromones were flying,” Juan crows. “And it shows!”
Nate grunts, and Juan flaps his hand.
“Come back anytime,” he tells me. “Anytime at all. I might even be in touch, if there’s anything I think might fit. I’ll send the paperwork to Nathaniel, for you to have a look at.”
My head is still spinning as Nate leads me out into the street, hailing down a cab.
“Am I late for work?” I ask blearily. I’ve absolutely no idea what time it is.
Nate shakes his head. “Plenty of time to get back and ready before you start. I think Hudson would let you off, though, if you wanted to continue our…earlier conversation.”
He wiggles his brows at me, making me laugh.
“I’d like to, but I won’t let him down.”
“Rain check, then,” he decides, tucking me underneath him as the cab trundles through the streets. My muscles slacken, my breathing evening out as my eyes drift closed.
“Sleep,” Nate murmurs. “I’ve got you.”
“I know.”
It’s the last thing I remember before I doze off in his arms.
ChapterTwenty-Seven
Cade
I’m pulled away from my laptop by low, hissed voices.
When I duck out of our kitchen, I stop short at the sight of Nate, with an unconscious Gabrielle against his chest.
Axel is hovering around them with a frown.
I’m across the hallway in a second.
