Shit.Move faster, Nikolai.

“Who do you need, little bird? Me? Luc?” I ask her. Her eyes slide shut on a whimper.

“All of you,” she admits. “I want… all of you.” She shifts against me again and I suck in a breath. “But if you don’t want to—”

I cut her off. “Little bird, right now that’s the only damn thing I want. Just wanted to make sure. We’re going to get Nash taken care of, and then we’ll take you somewhere quiet.”

Running my tongue along her neck, I bite down gently and her back arches. “Where I can take care of you.”

She whimpers, and another flood of warmth appears where our lower halves rock together as we walk. Closing my eyes for a second, I grunt and pick up the pace.

Fuck. This is going to be the longest walk ever.

ChapterForty-Five

Ava

Icling to Nikolai as we walk through the front doors. The clenching in my lower half hasn’t eased. If anything, it’s worse.

What the fuck is wrong with me?

Spotting the stairs, I slur into Nikolai’s shoulder. “Nest, Nikolai.”

It’s a plea, and he rubs my back as he walks. “I know, little bird, just give me a minute.”

The whine curls from the back of my throat. I need it now. I need soft blankets and warm lights, and my pack.

Mine.

Nikolai pushes open a door and the minty freshness of sage twists around me. “Bastien,” I mumble.

Hands appear at my back, gently rubbing down my spine as Bastien hisses at Nik. “What the hell?”

“It’s her hormones, Bas,” Nikolai grunts back. “I need you to get Nash to Leah and meet us in the nest with Max and Luc.”

Bastien ducks his head to look into my face, and his eyes widen. Another twist makes my core clench, and I bury myself into Nikolai’s shoulder with a shudder.

Nik’s large hand settles on my back. “Easy, omega,” he soothes, a purr escaping him. The gravelly vibration drags straight down my back as his hands follow in large, soothing strokes, and I list bonelessly against him as he turns away, heading towards the stairs and up to my nest, shouldering open the door.

Nikolai sets me down on the downy blankets, and I crawl into the centre, breathing in the scent of apples as my core clenches. They smell like Max.

“Nikolai,” I whisper, my voice trembling. “Is this a heat?”How can that be possible if I’m pregnant?

He climbs over the blankets to settle next to me, his arms open as I crawl into them. “No, little bird. Your hormones are going a little bit wild because of the pregnancy. You’ll be all right soon.”

I’ll have to take him at his word because this aching, burningneedinside me isn’t going anywhere. Nikolai rolls me underneath him, his sapphire eyes growing hazy as he bends his head to suck at my bottom lip. The gentle tugs move straight through my body, my breasts heavy and aching.

My groan makes him move down my neck, licking and sucking and pulling sensation from everywhere. Wriggling, I pull at my damp t-shirt. “Off, Nikolai,” I beg. His warm hands slide underneath and trace over my stomach as he helps me pull it off, throwing it to the other side of the room. His eyes darken as his gaze moves over my body, my nipples standing to attention at the heat of his gaze.

“Fuck, Ava,” he rasps. “Fucking gorgeous.”

He runs his hands over my body, caressing my aching breasts until I push up into his palm with a frustrated mewl. “More,” I hiss. “I need more.”

His fingers rub back and forth over my nipples, tweaking and tugging on them as his hand runs down my body, petting me. I tilt my head back at the rush of sensation, my eyes closing.

A whisper of apple pie floats across us, and I turn my face to Max where he stands in the doorway, his arm over his head as he grips the frame in his hands. Desire is harsh on his handsome face.

“Max,” I beckon him, whining when he doesn’t step forward to take my outstretched hand.
