My eyes roll back as I explode inside her with a bellow, my knot keeping my seed inside and shudders of pure ecstasy licking at the base of my back as she takes everything I have, draining me dry.

Satisfaction rumbles through me and I rock gently, murmuring hazy words of praise as Harper closes her eyes, small aftershocks of her orgasm rippling through her. Ace rubs gentle circles against her clit and she pushes back into him with a murmur.

“It’ll help with the knotting,” he whispers to me. We gently maneuver Harper between us until we’re all lying on our sides. Me with my back to the fire, Harper secure on the end of my knot and her face buried into my neck as Ace’s arms wrap over us both.

Fucking hell. That was… beyond anything I’ve ever felt. Ace’s expression tells me he’s feeling similar. Harper shifts gently, a purr slipping out as my knot nestles into her. I rock gently and she hums in satisfaction.

“Amazing,” she sighs, a sleepy mumble to her voice.

Ace runs a hand over her hair gently. “Sleep, sweetheart. We’ve got you.”

She turns her head blindly, eyes already drifting shut and I catch her lips in a soft kiss.

“You are exquisite, love,” I whisper. A smile tips up the corner of her mouth as she dozes off in our arms. I feel my own eyes starting to close, my knot slipping free of Harper’s body. Fingers link around mine, and my gaze flickers open to a familiar face. Ace curls his hand around mine, and I hold onto him tightly.

“Missed you,” I whisper.

I whistle as I dart around the kitchen, putting together the final touches to dinner. I can’t wait for Harper to try it. This afternoon was… it was everything.

I’m falling in love with her.

Ace slides in behind me, his warm breath ghosting over my neck and making me shiver.

“Hey,” I breathe. Having him with us for Harper’s first time was perfect.

“Just so you know,” he whispers. “I’m not giving up on us.”

A quiver runs through me at his words, my heart swelling. We have things that we need to talk through. But maybe, if he wants to chase – well, this time I might let him catch me.

Rogue and Devlin wander in, nostrils flaring immediately at my scent. I haven’t showered, not wanting to lose the traces of Harper embedded in my skin. I raise my chin and stand firm. A hint of envy floats through on the bond. Rogue watches me carefully before he smiles.

“Is she okay?” he asks. I nod. He grabs some plates and carries them to the table as I wait for him to speak.

“You’re not mad?” I ask, just to check.

Rogue laughs. “No, I’m not mad. I think she made exactly the right decision.”

I beam at him as the door knocks. I feel like I’m floating on air.

“Delivery van,” Devlin says. He has alerts sent to his phone from the cameras we have set up around our perimeter. “I’ll get it.”

He returns with a scowl on his face. He’s pushing a huge square parcel almost as big as he is, and I jump across to help him.

“What’s that?” Ace asks, confused.

“A gift from the fucking OC.”

ChapterThirty-One

Harper

I’m engrossed in a book Devlin left on my dresser for me. It’s an old book, about an omega who hides her awakening from her alpha pack because of the way they treat her, even though they’re fated mates. I don’t know where he got it, but it’s heart-breaking and addictive and most definitely illegal goods.

I’m enthralled by the idea of fated mates. I wish they existed. The idea of belonging to the Winter pack in that way… I would be theirs, and they would be mine too. The idea sends a chill racing up my spine.

That’s not something that happens in real life, though. The most they can do is bitemark me, creating a link that will draw me to them. But I won’t be able to bite them. I’ve never heard of an omega marking an alpha in that way.
