He strides through the family, bidding everyone goodbye, leaving Logan and me wondering about the mysterious call.
Logan pulls me to him and kisses my forehead. “You know, I’m glad we found each other too. That day I walked into the bodega, I knew as soon as I looked at you that my life would never be the same.”
In his arms, I feel how right he is. “My life is not the same either, but this is exactly what I wanted.”
He smiles happily. “Me too.”
EPILOGUE 2
LOGAN
Six Years Later
“Honey, I’m home.”
I walk through the quiet house and am surprised at the silence. It doesn’t feel right.
I keep walking, a smile on my face, ready to see my wife and kids. I know they’re here somewhere. I talked to Bree not twenty minutes ago.
I walk into the kitchen and find it empty. One peek out the window and my eyes are drawn to my wife and kids in the pool.
Instead of going outside, I sneak upstairs, take off my clothes, put on some swimming trunks, and then walk out to join my family.
The three kids start whooping and hollering when they see me. My beautiful wife stays in the pool as the kids clamor out and run for me.
I happily hug each of them and then toss them into the pool. They’re all giggles and laughter, and before I realize it, I’ve started something. For the next twenty minutes, I’m tossing kids into the pool. They land in the water and then rush to get out to do it again. Bree has her sunglasses on, but I can feel her gaze on me. She’s smiling and laughing. “You see what you started?”
I laugh. “How was your day?” I ask her.
She smiles. “It was a good day. Last days of summer. They’re excited about school starting on Monday.”
“Hey, you guys. What do you think about having a carpet picnic tonight, and we’ll watch one of your favorite movies.”
“Yes!” they all scream in unison.
I jump into the pool with them. Bridget jumps on my back, Britney loops her arms around my neck, and Braxton is treading water in front of me. They are each talking about which movie we should watch. I’m only a few feet away from Bree, but Ineed to touch her. “All right, I got an idea. One of you pick what we’re having for dinner, one of you pick the first movie, and one of you pick the second movie.”
“Yes!” they scream.
I laugh. “Okay, but you know the drill. Showers first.”
They’re so excited that they get out of the pool and start drying off. Bree starts to get out, but I hold her to me. “Oh no, where do you think you’re going?”
She doesn’t resist. She curls into me. “You do know you’re sending three wet five-year-olds into the house. They’re going to destroy the floors.”
I hold her to me. “I’ll clean them.”
She loops her arms around my neck. “Mr. Brody, did you just manipulate our kids to get me alone?”
I have no qualms about telling her the truth. “I did.”
She puts one hand on my chest, twirling her finger across my skin. “And the carpet picnic with two movies… you know they’ll fall asleep in the first one.”
I chuckle. “I know. And then I’ll have some alone time with my wife.”
She leans into me. “I’ve missed you.”
I lean down and kiss her until we’re both breathless. My cock reacts to her, and there’s no concealing it. “Fuck, I need you.”
