One of Viper’s friends stood to his feet, and I looked at him, wondering what he had to say. I was already expecting that some people weren’t going to be happy with this news.
“But doesn’t the boss need to be married?” he asked.
I shoved my hands in my pants pocket and asked, “Who said that I wasn’t getting married?”
Again, the room fell silent except for one person—Ocean.
I wasn’t sure what demon spirit jumped into this damn girl, but she was up on her feet, waving like a pageant queen as if I called her stupid ass. Sincere chuckled from beside me.
For some reason, I looked over at Shakur. He looked over at the door, which was still closed, and then at me before shaking his head in disappointment.
Would I have to marry Ocean after all?
The thought alone crippled me, but Sincere made it very clear that I needed to get married and very soon! I’d given Kairi her time, but what if she really wasn’t coming?
I looked down at my watch.
Shakur told me that he told Kairi what time to come here again today before he left. Just like the other times he mentioned it, she didn’t answer him, nor had she reached out to me even once, but I liked to think she heard him.
Ocean was still making a scene, going around to all her little hoe friends, hugging and shit. A few other people approached me to congratulate me. Sony and Viper stayed seated, not that I gave a fuck. I could see it in Sony’s eyes that he knew he done fucked up with me, but for now, I was gonna let him sit in his own shit.
I stood there just staring into nothing. My heart was on the verge of breaking knowing I was going to have to do this alone—without my person. Sincere had handed me everything, a whole new life on a level far above the one I used to live, but all I wanted was Kairi. I needed her.
The doors to the grand ballroom suddenly opened, and I had to blink a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing shit.
“Kairi,” I whispered her name. Something fiery was igniting inside of my soul as she looked at me.
She walked in, eyes on me, her spirit calling out to mine, looking like a queen in this badass long dress that hugged every curve I’d embedded into my mind. The split on the left side exposed her glossed leg with every step she took. Her heels echoed around the room, making the sweetest sound to my ears.
Her hair was in a straight bob, and her pouty lips were covered in red lipstick. Kairi flicked her eyes my way and kept my gaze until she was standing before me. Her hypnotic perfume swirled around my head while I got lost in her face.
She came to me when I needed her the most. I couldn’t do this life without her, and thankfully, I wouldn’t have to.
“Am I late?” she asked before smiling at me.
“Nah, you’re right on time,” I said before pulling her into me.
“Ladies and gentlemen, meet Havoc and his wife,” Shakur shouted from across the room.
I used my finger to tilt Kairi’s head back before placing a deep kiss on her lips.
“Y’all are invited to the wedding!” Shakur shouted, making a few people laugh. I pulled away from Kairi’s lips and winked at her.
“Are you serious right now, Havoc?” Ocean shouted. “Daddy!” she screamed. He came to stand beside her, his face in a frown, but then he looked to Sincere, who simply smiled and pointed at me.
Leo’s face morphed, and he bit into his bottom lip as he stared at my face.
“You think you can do this to me, Havoc?!” Ocean continued to rant.
I looked around her at Oblique, who immediately snatched her up and escorted her out of the room because I didn’t have shit to say to her. Her dad flicked his eyes up at me and then rushed out after her.
I felt Kairi stiffen beside me, and I turned my eyes to her. She was shaking like a leaf, and I didn’t like that shit.
“As long as I’m around, you never have to be afraid, Kairi. I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise from my heart.”
She pulled back to look me in my eyes, and I took her right hand and placed it against my heart so that she knew I meant every word I spoke.
Kairi smiled at me, and that made me smile too.
