Maybe, just maybe, Ocean had moved on to bothering someone else.

She stayed away from me, and I will stay away from her. Simple as that.

“Okay, Kairi. If you’re sure, but couldn’t be me. Best believe I would be rubbing my pussy all in her nigga’s mouth if that was me!”

I coughed, laughing, and shook my head because I knew she would do that too. Sparkle just didn’t give a damn what anyone said or thought about her. She was gonna do her all day.

“I know you would, but honestly, I’m sure.”

It was best to keep things this way.

Evening came quickly, and now I was at work, busy on my feet. Unintentionally, I found myself looking around for Havoc. He never said he was coming to the club tonight, but I still found myself looking for him. He hadn’t been for the past few days, due to his cold, but today he was looking and sounding much better, so I thought he would come.

The booth he sat at previously was empty, and a few hours in, I realized that he wasn’t going to come because he would have been here by now. It was a few hours before closing, and usually, he would be leaving this time—not arriving.

I’d found out from Felicity that he always came to the club, sat in that seat, and would be gone hours before everyone else left. That was his routine, so seeing it was now almost midnight and how he’d usually be gone by then, I knew he wasn’t coming. It had me wishing that I’d asked him if he would be at the condo next week when I went there.

“Come on, Kairi, get a grip,” I said when I realized I was thinking about him too much.

Maybe it was best if we didn’t see each other next week or any other time after that.

I started to clean the bar to busy my thoughts. I looked up when I saw a shadow approach. It was Ocean. She kept her eyes on me as she slowly walked past with her friends.

I stood still watching them leave, then I released the breath I didn’t even know I was holding and continued to clean the bar.

“Kairi, can you bring these drinks to section four, please? I really need to use the restroom,” Felicity said, putting the tray down on the bar. Sparkle and I looked at each other before I smiled at her.

“Yeah, no problem.”

Felicity thanked me and rushed into the back. I told Sparkle that I would be okay and lifted the tray to bring upstairs.

I entered the section, and my eyes landed on Ocean, but she cut her eyes at me and looked away.

As I stepped further inside, I could hear people murmuring—whispering as if I was the topic. Some gave me looks, while others just watched me with smiles on their faces as if they knew something that I didn’t.

Taking a deep breath, I continued toward the table where I was going to put these drinks on.

But before I could put the tray down, someone suddenly stuck their foot out, making me trip and crash to the floor.

All the drinks spilled over my head, and the glasses smashed on the ground. The section fell deathly silent. I could feel the cold, sticky liquor seep through my clothes, and then there was laughter. So loud, it rattled my ears. I felt the flush of embarrassment rush over my cheeks and burn my skin.

“Watch where you’re going, bitch!” Ocean hollered and fell out laughing. I cupped my elbow that hit the ground pretty hard and looked at her. She had a triumphant smile on her face.

Other people around stopped what they were doing to stare down at me, looking pitiful on the ground.

Ocean got up out of her seat and crouched down beside me.

“The floor is where you belong, Kairi, and I’m going to spend every day of your life reminding you of that. Know your place, bitch,” she snarled before smiling and going back to her seat.

I stood to my feet, picked up the tray, and walked out of the section while they continued to laugh at me. When I made it to the bottom step, Felicity was on her way up.

“What happened?” she asked, eyes bouncing all over me. I knew I looked a hot ass mess with my hair soaking wet. My mascara was probably slithering down my face at this point.

I didn’t even have the words to explain what the hell just happened.

“Don’t worry, I will get someone to clean up. Go take a minute in the break room.”

For whatever reason, this girl was so nice to me, and I felt like she was always cleaning up my mess.
