She opened her mouth and closed it a few times before finally letting my wrist go.
“Let’s go,” Trini said. I gave River one final look and walked away as she stood there staring into space.
As I walked away, I looked over my shoulder at River and said, “You can either choose to believe them or believe what you’ve been knowing from the beginning.”
With that, I walked away, leaving her to her own thoughts.
“You think she will listen to you?” Trini whispered and asked.
I looked at her and sighed.
“I hope so.”
Because I had nothing else to try.
CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE
MAKARI “HAVOC” SANCHEZ
TWO DAYS LATER
There was still no sight or word on Viper and his ugly ass son, Sony.
Most of their crew had been found and dealt with. There were only a few outstanding who I suspected were wherever these niggas were hiding. I did feel bad for having to take out Hell’s friends, but if they were truly his friends, they wouldn’t have joined Sony.
They wanted to say it was for my brother; however, I finally saw that it was jealousy. They were the same friends who used to talk shit about me to my brother, wanting him to treat me badly or for me to betray him. This was an excuse to kill me and take what they thought belonged to them.
It was comical, though, because if they had succeeded, were they really expecting Sony and Viper to run shit?
They were too weak for the streets, and if left to themselves, this Society wouldn’t have lasted long. It was a joke that they put a fight up for something they didn’t even have the balls to carry.
Sincere had always told me that this wasn’t an easy thing to hold, and he damn sure wasn’t lying.
I’d never had to fight so hard before in my life. It just helped that I had the right people in my corner, and a crazy old man decided to take a chance on me.
I looked over at Sincere’s portrait in my office. It was taken of him at my wedding, looking so happy and free. Despite the pain and the illness, he wouldn’t allow anything to put him down. That man smiled until his last breath.
As I sat there looking at his portrait, I simpered to myself, knowing that if he were still alive, he would have cussed me out for having those two niggas stress me out.
I suddenly received a notification on my phone that someone was at my gate. I pulled up the security camera and received the shock of my life!
Well, I be damned.
I hurriedly left the house and made my way to the gate.
“Open it!” I yelled at my guards and waited for them to do so. As it pried open, River turned to look at me.
She and I had only crossed paths in passing because usually we were in the streets, so Sony didn’t bring her around as much. Since I wasn’t really interested in Ocean like that, I didn’t make it my business to know her peoples personally.
She turned to look at me and sighed.
“How did you know where I lived?” I questioned.
River simpered.
“I have my way of finding things out, Havoc.”
Her father.
