Lennox showed it to the rest of the crew to make sure that nobody had any other ideas. They cussed his ass out about it and said that Sincere trusted me and that was all they cared about. Most of them knew he had ordered an autopsy on Kelechi, so why would he do that if he suspected Kairi or me being the cause of it? At least I knew that whoever was in my corner was solid. Those who left could never have been with me to side with my enemies so easily. Now, it was a question about finding them.

That was the difficult part. I’d spent years following my brother around, so I didn’t really know Sony enough like that to know where he and his pops could be hiding. If Kelechi was alive, he’d probably know that, and so I was left drawing a blank on what to do next.

I sighed and shook my head.

“Thanks, Oblique. Let me think of a plan and get back to you,” I told him. He agreed, and we ended the call.

“Fuck!” I hissed and threw my burner phone on my desk. I felt a tension headache coming on again and rubbed at my forehead, hoping it would help.

“I don’t even know how the fuck they even knew about that shit,” I said to myself.

“I’m the reason why,” Kairi said, walking into the room. I turned my eyes her way and frowned.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

Damn, another secret!

This shit was really starting to make me look at this girl sideways.

Kairi hesitated as she looked at me. I knew she’d heard my conversation with Oblique. I sat there staring at her, wondering if I’d ever be able to trust her again.

She sighed.

“After you told me what I’d done, I went to see Sparkle because I didn’t know what to do,” she started to explain and paused again.

My brows knitted as I waited to see what she was going to say next.

“And River heard us talking,” she finished.

“Fuck,” I exclaimed and shook my head. Now, it finally made sense. At least it wasn’t because Sony or Viper were watching me. Although, I knew neither of them was smart enough to do that shit without me noticing.

“I know y’all are trying to find them,” she said. My eyes narrowed her way, and she confirmed that she was indeed listening to my conversation.

Kairi threw her hands up and said, “Trini told me.”

“Y’all best friends now all of a sudden? Hiding more shit from me together?”

I never thought the day would come when I had to question Trini’s loyalty. The fact that she and Kairi were talking was starting to make me believe that they really did plan that dumb shit together, though.

Kairi looked away from my eyes before looking back at me.

“I think you should use the sisters against each other,” Kairi said, confusing me.

What the hell did Ocean and River have to do with this shit?

Yeah, Sony was River’s husband, but how could I use the sisters to find him?

“How’s that supposed to help me?”

Kairi sighed heavily.

“Makari, do you know why I hid from you for so long?”

That was always something I wanted to know, so since she was ready to tell me, I wanted to know.

“No,” I answered.

“Because of Ocean. She came to me and used her father to threaten my family’s life before I quit my job at the club.”
