It was the anniversary of my parents’ death, and I always took that week off to travel just so that I could cope, so I wasn’t around for Sincere’s memorial. Today was my first day back.
Something told me to hang up the phone and go find Havoc to see what the hell Sony was talking about, but then his next set of words knocked me on my ass.
“Kairi poisoned Hell. That’s what killed him, not the gunshot wound.”
I sat in silence because there was no way he just said that.
“W-what?” I asked. Sony then went on to explain all that happened the night of Sincere’s memorial and how the crew had now split in two.
How did all this shit change in a week?
I quickly pulled my phone from my ear and ended the call. My hands shook as I stared down at my phone.
Surely, Sony was capping and saying shit just to mess with my head.
“Yeah, it had to be that,” I said to myself. “But maybe, I should just ask Shakur.”
I put my phone in my purse and hurriedly left my house to find him.
I found him at Oblique’s store, as usual, but for some reason the shit was locked up.
I had to call him to come and get me. Shakur appeared, unlocked the door, and let me in.
When I stepped inside, I saw so many weapons that I lost count.
“Uh, what is going on?”
It looked like I walked into a damn gun range instead of a motorcycle store. Shakur took me by the hand and led me into Oblique’s office, where we were alone.
“Are you guys going to war or something?” I kidded until Sony’s words hit me. He said that the crew had split in two, and if that was the case, it would be a war zone.
When Shakur didn’t laugh at my words, I knew it was true.
“Listen, some shit is going on. I would have preferred if you stayed traveling but Havoc needs you to watch Kairi.Ineed you to watch my sister.”
I frowned and took in his words, feeling lost at what he was saying.
“Why?” I asked because he was saying a lot of things, yet nothing too at the same time.
“I don’t know if you know, but Sony was fucking with my sister. She never told Havoc or me about it,” Shakur explained.
I frowned because I didn’t know that shit either. Havoc definitely kept that one quiet!
“Anyway, she tried to get her lick back, but—” Shakur stopped and looked at me. His eyes were saying words that he couldn’t. It immediately gave me an uneasy feeling.
“But what?” I asked. Heart racing because I was scared to know, but at the same time, I wanted to know.
Shakur just peered at me, silent and stiff until he sighed and continued.
“But something went wrong and Hell—” he stopped again, but he didn’t have to finish what he was saying because Sony was right.
“She’s the reason why Hell died?” I asked breathlessly. Shakur looked at me, his brows knitted in annoyance.
“You ain’t gotta say it like that. It was a fucking accident, but somehow Sony found out and is using that shit to try to take over. Mad niggas are gunning for my sister’s head to get revenge. Shit is a fucking mess.”
Shakur looked stressed. Shit, I was stressed out after hearing that!
My eyes closed, and my mind wandered to my best friend who lost his life meaninglessly because of Kairi. Was that the reason why I didn’t like her from the moment I saw her face?
