Or maybe it’s a cowboy. I don’t know since I’ve never had a cowboy before. Just guys who pretended to be, but they really worked behind a desk and wouldn’t dare get their fingernails dirty. Their boots have never seen a spec of dirt.
People seated around us watch on as our boisterous group’s chatter fills the restaurant. It’s one thing to have a gathering at one of our houses where we can be carefree and filters don’t exist. But fifteen people in a busy restaurant on a Saturday night is a bit much.
All the usual suspects are in attendance –Cami, Viv, CeCe, Vaughan, Hayes, Bishop, Nix and Luca– in addition to a few friends from work. Most surprisingly is that my brother Dre and his wife Lisette made it out. They almost never get away with little Maddie. Though we wish they would let loose more, I don’t blame them for wanting to soak in every minute with her. They hate missing a blink of hers for fear that a big moment will happen and they won’t be there.
Cami takes over and begins cutting the obscene cake, making sure everyone gets their very own little dick. The guys all scrape it off and plop it to the side, and Viv goes around collecting them, popping them in her mouth and moaning with each one.
“Happy birthday, darlin’.” Hayes walks up behind and whispers in my ear, his warm breath tickling my neck making my nipples turn instantly rock hard. “Think you can sneak away for a couple minutes so I can give you a birthday kiss?” I take a slow turn around and tame my smile.
It’s been close to two months since Hayes and I first got together, and every day I fall a little more for him. Those bright green eyes, his electric smile, that unruly hair that’s messy in the best way, the tight jeans and t-shirt that showcases each and every muscle. How could a girl not fall?
I quickly and discreetly brush my hand against his and take a small step back. “I think I can manage that. The problem will be getting away from the girls. You know they’ll want to follow. They can’t ever go to the bathroom alone. It’s like they’re joined at the hips.”
Hayes moves his eyes around from face to face, thinking of a way for us to get away without being seen or followed.
“What time are we leaving for Big Joe’s?” No outing would be complete without a visit to our favorite bar for some country dancing, so of course our night will end there.
With a shrug I tell him, “I think the plan was to leave after cake. It’s already,” I look down at my watch and note the time. “Nine-thirty so I think it’s time to get going.”
He nods with a coy smile and bees buzz in my belly. “Well then let’s eat this fucking dick cake and get out of here. You came with Vaughan and Cam?” he asks and I nod. “Tell them you’re coming with me.”
“What’s my excuse for riding with you?”
“Who cares. We do that all the time and they’ve never questioned it. It’s simply the couples breaking off. And since we’resingle,” he says with air quotes. “We’re the odd people out.”
I bite my lip and stare at him with hooded eyes. It’ll only be ten or fifteen minutes, but it’s just enough time to sneak in a quick kiss and maybe cop a feel or two.
Hayes reaches behind me, brushing his chest up against mine, and takes a plate with a slice of cake. He stabs it with his fork and holds it out for me. I frantically look around but everyone is lost in their own conversations and eating. I part my lips and he slides the fork inside. I lick it clean, sugar dick and all, and he slowly draws it out. A smudge of frosting remains and he pops the last bit in his mouth with a moan.
“This almost tastes as good as your pussy,” he whispers and I melt.
We quickly inhale our dessert and Luca pays our bill, insisting on it even though the others plead with him to pitch in. He refuses, of course, because Luca Amato is a generous man and loves indulging his friends. I guess when you have billions of dollars, a few hundred bucks on a dinner tab is nothing.
The ladies grab their purses and men stand, waiting to escort their wives to the waiting cars. Viv is an honorary wife since she and Phoenix are engaged, despite his desire to be married now.
“Cat’s gonna ride with me, y’all.” Hayes looks over to Vaughan and Cami as he tosses his arm over my shoulders.
I flinch and my first instinct is to pull away, but that would be more suspicious as this type of affection isn’t uncommon. Hayes is a flirty guy, so he tends to do this with all of us girls.
Vaughan dips his chin and takes Cami’s hand. Phoenix and Viv follow with Luca and CeCe right behind. Luca places his hand on the small of her back and rubs it in circles.
CeCe is finally starting to show a small bump and she looks absolutely gorgeous. She’s one of those tall model-type women who will most likely have her baby and prance home in her skinny jeans. Or in CeCe’s case, her pencil skirt and stiletto heels.
We all pile into vehicles and Hayes starts up his truck then waits. The engine idles and he sits staring out of his window.
“What are you doing? Let’s go,” I tell him, looking around to see if there is something stopping us from leaving.
A few seconds pass when he turns to me slowly, a cheeky smile on his gorgeous face. As the street lamp pours light on us from above, I soak in just how gorgeous he is. He’s wearing a little bit of scruff and with his hat on he looks like every woman’s cowboy fantasy. He’s so handsome it almost hurts my eyes.
The air is thick between us and I’m dying to crawl into his lap and take him right h–
“Ooo!” I yelp as he reaches over and yanks me to him.
I fumble over the middle console and I end up side saddle on his lap, my legs twisted clumsily under my skirt. His calloused hands grip my face and his mouth attacks mine. Sweet frosting lingers on our tongues and I knock off his hat, aching to tangle my fingers through his thick waves.
He plants open mouthed kisses down my neck and I moan, my panties growing damp with every touch of his lips on my skin. He savors me like I’m his favorite dessert and he wants an endless serving.
“Can we just skip the bar and go to your house?” he asks.
