“Let me clean you up.”
I slipped from Melanie, going to the bathroom to clean myself up first, and then came back with a warm cloth for her. I lightly swiped at her still very wet pussy as she laid in my bed looking completely content with life. She laid there with a huge grin on her face and I couldn’t help but copy it as I stared at her.
When she finally opened her eyes, I’d cleaned her up and crawled back into bed with my arm resting against her stomach, us both still completely naked.
“I’ll be right back.”
She tiptoed out of bed and to the bathroom. When she came out, she didn’t look at me but headed to the living room, coming back with her phone in hand.
It looked like she was sending off a text and then crawled back into my bed, tossing the phone onto the nightstand.
“Everything okay?” I asked, not wanting to pry but still hoping she wasn’t going to vanish at any second.
“Erica and Chase are going to keep Amelia for the night.”
“Oh, really?” I turned toward her and raised an eyebrow. Did this mean she was spending the night?
“Yeah,” She leaned in to kiss me. This time it was soft and quick but I wanted to make it last longer, especially with her still naked in my bed. I rested a hand on her hip, lightly running my fingers up and down the curves of her side.
“I thought we could do that a few more times tonight.”
I pulled my eyes away from where my hand was and looked Melanie in the eyes finally. She did want to stay and not just for a little while longer, no. Her words gave away what she hadn’t said, that she wanted to stay until we passed out in the bed from exhaustion and we woke up sometime in the morning when the light decided to shine through the windows.
“You can stay as long as you want, love.”
“If you keep calling me that, I might never leave.”
Melanie rolled over at the ding of her phone, a message probably coming in from Erica or Chase and I watched as her body moved in my bed.
Her comment had caught me off guard, from where she had once told me she would let me break her heart, to where she was scared to see where this would go, and now that she might never leave if I keep this up. It was almost too good to be true but I was going to roll with whatever it was she was willing to give me.
Even if it wasn’t the love that I was giving her.

Walkinginto the office on Monday morning was something out of a fairytale. I was walking on cloud nine and it felt like everything was going my way. The elevator was there when I wanted into the building, no one stopped me as I walked to my office, and to top it all off, Max had already left me a note on my desk, outlining what I needed to focus on for the week.
I slung my bag onto the floor and started up my desktops, preparing for a day of work and to let myself drown in it. Choosing photos for covers, teasers, fonts, placements on the images, it captured my whole day until lunch when I decided to leave the building to go to Bakers across the street.
I pulled out my phone, sending a quick text to Melanie, asking how her day was. She answered back immediately as I was ordering my food, so I called her instead. Knowing that once I got back to the office, I’d put my phone away until I got off for the night.
“Hello, love.”
“Jack,” Melanie laughed into the phone and I could hear Amelia talking in the background.
“How are you doing today?”
“Good. We are just watching some tv today and working on a puzzle. Amelia didn’t feel good this morning, but she seems finenow.” I could hear it in Melanie’s voice that she didn’t believe her daughter, but knowing her, she loved being able to spend a little extra time with Amelia.
“That sounds like you two are having a blast.” I grabbed my sandwich from the pickup line and mouthed thank you to the guy who did it.
“It is, especially when Amelia tries to shove the wrong pieces into a spot.”
“It fits mommy!” Amelia yelled and it sounded like she was right next to the phone.
Laugher spilled out of me as I pictured Amelia trying to place the wrong piece in a spot and Melanie having to tell her that doesn’t go there. From the little I knew about Amelia, I knew she was used to getting her way. That was exactly why she was at home, rather than at school.
“I’d love to take you out again, Melanie.” I got the reason for me reaching out to her out of the way. I wouldn’t have minded doing it over text but hearing her say yes was what I truly wanted.
