“Love you too, son!” Law’s mom yelled from the front door.

I opened the passenger side and used the side bar to grab onto to lift myself into the truck. Cary was waving goodbye to us. I waved just as Law pulled out of the driveway, like he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

The drive back to his place only took a few minutes, with him and his parents only being a few streets apart. Law didn’t speak a word to me. Not when he ran the stop sign at the end of the street, when he jerked onto the dirt road that led to his house, or when he shoved the car into park, slammed the driver’s door, and stomped his way into the house, leaving me in the dust.

I followed behind him as fast as I could. When I entered the house, I had no idea where he had gone to and heard nothing from inside the house.

“Law,” I yelled out but didn’t get a response.

“Lawson,” I said, this time with more aggression.Nothing.

“Lawson Kane!” I was done playing this game of not knowing what the fuck happened that had him set off to be a giant jackass.

It was faint, but I heard a grunt come from upstairs and followed the sound to a spare bedroom at the far end of the house. I pushed open the slightly ajar door to see Law sitting on the edge of the bed, elbows on his knees and head in his hands.

I walked over to him and placed my hands on his head. His arms wrapped around my waist and I stood there as Law clung to me, like he was going to lose me and I had no idea where this side of him had come from.

“Talk to me,” I whispered.

“Do you miss it?” he asked. I stood there confused about what he was trying to ask. “Do you miss dancing?”

I laughed and moved his head away from my stomach to be able to look him in the eyes.

“Is that what this is about?” I asked as I laughed again, trying to think how the hell this man looked so adorable when he was pouting like a child.

“You said you loved it. That you’ve done it your whole life. I saw that look in your eyes, Anya. I witnessed the passion there.”

“Lawson.” I said his name firmly, so he knew I was being serious. “I love dancing, I do, but I’m not passionate like I used to be about it. That look you saw in my eyes wasn’t from me talking about dancing, but because I had no idea how to talk to your parents about me not dancing anymore and it not make me look like a crazy person for leaving my entire life behind to be here with you.”

I leaned down and placed a kiss to his lips.

“That passion, Law, that was for you.” I kissed him again and this time Law dove right into it, crushing our bodies together as he flipped me over so I was lying on the bed.

He propped himself above me.

“I leave tomorrow morning and won’t be back till Monday.” He brushed a piece of hair off my forehead. “Are you sure you’re all right staying here?”

“I think lunch with your mom will be fun.”

“Don’t even get me started on that.” He laughed at me. “If she corners you just text me. I’ll call and say there is an emergency, because no way am I letting you get scared away by my own mom.”

It was my turn to laugh. Law thought that one person could determine if I stayed here, and he was right in some ways, because the only person who could ever change my mind was the man staring down at me.

“I think Cary and Luke are the best and I’m anxious to get to know them.” I cupped Law’s cheek and rubbed my thumb across the apple of it, trying to reassure him.

“Shit.” He cursed and lowered his head. It dangled like he was ashamed. “I never even introduced you to them properly. How much did you find out online?”

I bellowed out a laugh at his comment, that he knew he had gotten caught up in everything, but also knew I had to do some digging myself.

“It actually wasn’t me. Leah pulled up everything. It was also after the morning of our first date. She was trying to convince me this whole situation was a big deal.”

“Do you not think it is?” Law asked mockingly.

“Oh, it is now.” I giggled and used my hand that was on Law’s cheek to push his head aside so he wasn’t staring down at the blush that was creeping across my face.

He pulled my hand away and stared down at me again. A serious look came across his face as he studied me.

“Do you regret this?”

“No. Never,” I reassured him instantly. This was one of the few decisions I have ever made in my life that I was certain about and I knew would change my life for the better. “I mean, people might think I’m crazy for coming all the way out here. And they might be right. I might be the craziest woman out there right now.”

I exhaled a breath, trying to get my bearings. I was going off on a tangent I didn’t want to. I didn’t regret this, but I also knew what others would think, because it was the same thing my mother thought, same thing Leah thought, even though she encouraged me to come here. I was pretty freaking crazy.

“Sugar.” Law put both his hands on the sides of my face, boxing me in, and leaned down to place a soft kiss against my lips. “If you’re crazy, then so am I. But fuck it, sugar, we can be crazy together.”
