We both know exactly what’s coming next.
Every movement flows like we’ve done this a hundred times before, perfectly in sync, as if our bodies speak a language only we understand. I grip his hips, possessive and aching, as he lowers himself onto my chest, crashing his mouth against mine in a kiss that’s wild, desperate, and full of need.
While our lips stay locked, he reaches one hand into the bedside drawer for the lube, the other curling around both of us, stroking with a rhythm so steady and relentless it blurs everything else.
“Baby, wait…” I gasp, already teetering on the edge. “I… I need you. I want to be inside you…”
“I want you too, Remi…” he whispers, breath hitching, voice thick with desire. He knows what I mean, he always does, and shifts instinctively, rising to meet me, his body answering mine with the same fierce urgency.
And then,of course, the doorbell rings downstairs.
This time, though, I havenointention of stopping.
“Remi… shouldn’t we… maybe check who it is?” Sebastian murmurs, though he makes no move to stop, his hands still working me with maddening precision.
“It’s… probably just the postman,” I manage to say between ragged breaths. “He’ll come back later. Don’t worry… Maude locked the front door, no one’s going to disturb us, baby.”
He exhales, tension easing from his shoulders, and melts into my arms. And then I finally slide into him, slowly, deeply, the kind of sensation that leaves me dizzy, completely undone, hooked beyond reason.
But just as I lose myself in the moment, just as we both cross that fragile line between need and oblivion, the door to my bedroomslamsopen.
And there, standing in the doorway, eyes wide with disbelief and mouth slightly parted, is Maddie.
Everything freezes for a few agonizing seconds. Time seems to grind to a halt… and then suddenly lurches forward as Maddie’s scream tears through the room.
“Wh, what… what thehellare you doing?!” she gasps, her wide eyes bouncing between me and Sebastian, trying to make sense of what she’s seeing. We’re frozen. Naked. Exposed in every possible way, body, soul, truth.
“You’re…in bed? Together?!” she shrieks, but it’s not a question. The answer is right in front of her. The truth has already sunk in, and what’s left is fury, raw, visceral, unfiltered.
“You disgusting bastards!Howcould you do this? Thisfilth?!”
She starts moving towards us, venom in every step, and my instincts kick in, Sebastian.
I throw myself in front of him without thinking, shielding his body with mine, one hand blindly reaching under the bed for whatever clothes I can find. My pulse is thundering in my ears, but all I can focus on is keeping him safe.
Sebastian, braver than he even realizes, is the first to speak. He pulls on the T-shirt and sweatpants I hand him, his hands trembling just slightly, then straightens up and faces Maddie head-on, even as she hurls fury at us like we’re monsters.
“Maddie, please… I understand that you’re hurt. But if you’d just let us explain what happened.”
“Explainwhat, exactly?” she cuts in, her voice cracking with rage. “That you’resick? That you both went behind my back to cheat on me, todestroyme?Whywould you do this to me?”
She begins pacing the room, erratic, tugging at her hair as she spirals further, her breathing sharp and uneven. She’s not listening. Not really. We’ve already lost her, at least for now.
“I came back from the States to fix things with my boyfriend. I wanted to tell him how much I love him, and I find, oh God, Ican’t even say it,this. I find him in bed with who? Myexfrom high school, who ghosted me without a word?!”
She stops dead, her eyes lighting up with something cold and vicious as she turns on Sebastian.
“So what… don’t tell me you’ve been gaythis whole time?”
Sebastian leans back against the wall, arms crossed tightly over his chest, eyes cast down. He doesn’t answer.
Maddie launches into another furious tirade, closing in on Sebastian like a predator zeroing in on prey, and every instinct in me flares to life. I thought I knew her. Really knew her. But I’ve never seen her like this: unhinged, seething, completely out of control. Without thinking, I spring up from the bed and move closer to Sebastian, planting myself firmly between them.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were gay, huh, Sebastian?” she spits. “Why leave me drowning in doubt, in confusion, when you could’ve just been honest?”
“I… I couldn’t,” he stammers, his voice trembling. “I swear, Mads… I hated myself for it. For years. I only told my parents a few days ago and… it went horribly.”
“Oh, so what, now I’m meant to feel sorry for you?” she snaps, voice thick with venom. “You didn’t just lie to me back then, you’ve been lying ever since. And now you show up at my place, act all broken and innocent, and steal my boyfriend right from under me?”
