“Nah. Let’s get the hell out of this mall before I run into someone else. Aw damn,” I grumbled. I saw another woman heading my way. The last thing I wanted to do was get caught up with Lexi’s ass. She was full of drama. We made eye contact, and I shook my head.

“Another one?” Angel asked.

“Don’t ask.”

“Must be the day for all your holiday hos to come out and play.”

I stared at her crazily but didn’t bother to respond until we were safely in the car and pulling out of the mall parking lot.

“Can we get back to what we were discussing earlier?” I asked after driving for a while.

“After getting a glimpse at what it would be like to date you? Pshh. I guess everything Jeremiah said about you was true.”

“Rather than judging me on hearsay, why don’t you ask your questions?”

“Not judging you. Just stating that what I heard and what I observed seems to align.”

“Fine. What did he tell you?”

“That you were involved with a mother and daughter at the same time; you had one girl stalking all these other girls; and you went through an entire group of friends within six months.”

I chuckled. “That boy wild. That’s all lies except for the mother and daughter.”

“Chris!” She shouted my name with a condescending tone.

“I didn’t know they knew each other. They were actually stepmother and stepdaughter, and they were only seven years apart. None of us were exclusive, and the stepdaughter found out when she visited a restaurant I was at with the stepmother. The girl’s dad married someone much younger than himself, and when I learned about it, I quit fucking with both of ’em. Contrary to popular opinion, that shit’s weird.”

“Why did you even have to be that way, though, Chris? I mean, just out there like that.”

Although lots of people had opinions on that time in my life, I never cared. But it bothered me that Angel felt some type of way about it. “Let’s just say that a woman dogged me. After what I went through, I didn’t trust women to do anything but ride it or suck it.”

“Well damn.”

“Sorry, but that was my reality for a while.”

“I was hurt, too, Christian, but I didn’t do that.”

“It’s different. You’re a mother, Angel.”

“I wasn’t back then.”

I sighed and looked over at her as we pulled into the lot of Wood’s Men.

“I would change my stripes. I don’t like dating multiple women, and I’m honestly a man who wants to be settled in a relationship and thinking about building a family. I just haven’t found the right woman who wants what I want and who has the same feelings that I have. Maybe someday.”

Chapter 7

Christian

“You’re kidding me, right?”

Angel laughed at my expression and shook the pajamas at me with one hand. “Come on, Chris. It’s just for the fun of it. Look at Belle and me. Aren’t we cute?” she asked, bouncing Belle up and down on her hip.

“Cute as hell. I can’t lie,” I replied in a low voice. “But I won’t look the same as y’all.”

She bit her bottom lip and stared at me from underneath those long, seductive lashes. Her little ass was always flirting with me, and she made me want to take things to another level, no matter how many times I promised myself I wouldn’t. “I wouldn’t want you to look like us, but it doesn’t mean that you’ll be any less appealing.”

“You trying to take advantage of me, Angel?” I teased.
