Nothing about how I felt being in his arms, being his wife, his partner—none of it felt temporary, and it scared me. But I didn’t give a damn anymore. If Kai and I were meant to be more than that godforsaken contract, I would let the pieces fall where they were meant to. In the meantime, I would enjoy every single second in the company of this man.

Kai set me down on the bench and threw my legs over his shoulders, lips brushing up my inner thigh.

“I missed this.”

“It’s only been a few hours.”

“Too long.” His laugh vibrated against my clit, and I closed my eyes as he chased it with his tongue. “My wife tastes so fucking good.”

A grin broke across my face as I tipped my head back and tangled my fingers into his hair. The sting of a sore wrist from today’s chaos had me suppressing a hiss, but the pain was quickly drowned out by pleasure as Kai devoured me as if I were his last meal.

“Dios,” I moaned as he gripped my hips tighter, drawing me closer and burying his tongue inside me.

“Kai,” he growled, fingers replacing his tongue, sliding against the slickness before he pushed it against the rim of my ass. “Call my name when your pussy is on my face.”

Rocking against him, I murmured his name, urging him on and biting my lip when he pushed inside me.

“You look so goddamn beautiful when you break for me,” he said, pumping inside me with each thrust of his fingers and a swipe of his tongue. “I’ll never get enough of this sweet little cunt.”

“It’s yours…baby, only yours.”

“I need you to mean it, Amalia.” He suctioned me hard into his mouth, and mine gaped open. He locked eyes with me.

“I…I do,” I whined, my legs shuddering around his head, voice broken.

My orgasm rippled through every inch of my body, from my toes to the very top of my head. I cried out his name between ragged pants and whimpers. But he continued feasting, stealing my breath.

“My wife,” he groaned, then flipping me over without warning, he pushed my head against the bench.

I attempted to spread my thighs to give him better access, but he spanked my ass cheek so hard it made my whole body jolt forward. He pressed his lips where my skin was on fire. “Leaving my mark.”

“Again,” I whispered. With my nails digging into the bench’s surface, I braced myself for the impact. The sting spread deliciously. “Fuck,” I moaned, my teeth open over my arm, closing against my skin as I rode out the waves of pain and unimaginable pleasure.

Kai spread me open and lined himself at my entrance, thrusting inside with a groan from deep in his chest. He was the epitome ofhurts so good. Birth control was well worth the goddamn headaches at this moment because all I wanted was to be savagely fucked and taken by this man, to feel him lose himself inside me so that I’d erase the memory of every woman that ever came before me.

Thesoft vibrations of my cell phone against the nightstand pulled me from a light sleep. Derek’s name lit up on the screen, and I immediately went on high alert. It was just past three in the morning, and he wouldn’t be calling unless there was an emergency. I crept out of bed, careful not to wake Amalia, and answered the phone from the hallway.

“What happened?”

“Nothing. Got up to check on Vali—she was crying. And something told me to give you a call. Everything good?”

I let out a breath of relief. “Yeah, all good. Had a little run-in with some men who have very bad aim and even worse driving skills.”

Derek listened without a word as I relayed the day’s events. Even when I’d finished speaking, he remained quiet for countless seconds.

“You were shot?” he finally asked.

“Grazed. Nothing serious.”

“Kai, maybe you should consider returning home—bring her with you.”

Always on the same page. I didn’t have to tell him that Amalia had become important to me, just like I understood when Eva became his whole world. Leaning on the doorframe, I watched her sleeping figure. Derek’s suggestion was tempting, because I’d do anything to take her away from the threat. But if there was one thing I knew about Amalia, she wouldn’t leave her family behind, nor would she walk away and forgive a betrayal.

“Once we figure things out here, I’ll bring it up.”

“Watch your six, Kai— No, don’t look at me like that.”
