I brought my lips to her nipple and brushed them over the sensitive peak, now hard under my caress.

“How do you feel?”

“You mean my ass?” I laughed and pressed another peck over the barbell. “I’m sore, if that’s what you want to know. And very much aware that I have an asshole.” She turned to me, her pretty face sporting an equally stunning smile. “But not as bad as I thought it would be. I kind of…loved it.”

“Kind ofdoesn’t inspire much confidence.”

“Do you have a praise kink, Mr. Hayes?” She ran her thumb across my bottom lip. “You want me to tell you how good you dicked me down last night? And that your cock is superior to any I’ve had in the past.”

I flashed her a grin. “Please, keep it coming.”

Leni’s laugh was contagious. I reached for her as I rolled onto my back, bringing her with me, her head on my chest.

“What’s your favorite food?”

She remained silent a moment before answering. “Sometimes even the best cut steak, cooked to perfection, doesn’t beat a greasy pepperoni pizza.”

“Pepperoni pizza? You don’t strike me as the type of woman who prefers pizza over prime rib.”

“Well, you wouldn’t think I’ve eviscerated a man and enjoyed it either. Like I said, I’m full of surprises.”

Her body shook to the tune of my laugh. “Touche.”

“Leni, can I take you out? For pizza?”

Another round of silence before she lifted her eyes to mine. “Are you asking me out on a date?”

I shrugged. “I am. I don’t remember asking anyone on a date in my life. If I had in the past as a teenage boy, I obviously don’t remember.”

“You? You’re telling me you’ve never taken a woman out before? Looking the way you do.”

Her compliment, coupled with the way her breasts were pressed against my chest, had my dick hard beneath her.

“Some people have careers outside the organization, like you. But I never did. I worked directly with Cillian. When I wasn’t on assignments, I was running arms deals, coordinating behind the scenes, recruiting, and training. That kind of lifestyle doesn’t exactly make me good boyfriend material. Not that I wanted to be anyway.”

She looked beyond me, pensive, before settling her head back over my heart.

“Makes sense.”

“That doesn’t mean I didn’t—”

“Fuck around?”

“Yeah. One and done was my motto.”

“Classy.”

Another laugh rumbled in my chest. “You didn’t answer my question.”

Helena drew circles against my skin with her finger, and again, we fell into a frustrating silence.

“Silas, Cillian probably has an army out vying for our heads. Plus, whoever those men worked for on the train. And you expect us to gallivant around town like your average citizen?”

Grabbing her shoulders, I lifted her slightly, momentarily distracted by her breasts. “Leni, we can die tomorrow, and none of that would matter.”

She huffed out a breath. “So you want to date me? No one and done? Why?”

“It’s just lunch, love. I’m not proposing.”
