A smile crawled across my face.

“I was just admiring your beauty.”

She scoffed and moved out of my arms and over to her side of the bed. Even after hours of lying in the same position, my arm tingly and half asleep, her body’s absence brought a chill.

“You don’t have to lie. I know I look like shit.” She rubbed at her eyes and yawned before flipping onto her stomach, head resting on her forearms. “Just as shitty as I feel. My head is going to explode.” I shot out of bed to grab her a glass of water and some aspirin. When I returned to the room, she was already sitting up, a smile on her pretty lips.

“And you say you’re not a gentleman.”

I threw her a heated stare. “You know I’m not.”

“That I do,” she said, downing the pills and water before crawling off the bed and walking into the bathroom.

Deciding to give her privacy to get cleaned up, I made my way to the window and slid open the curtain. A tremor seared through my body when I saw the water across from the back car lot.

Melina’s butchered corpse would be found soon if it hadn’t been already. It would make the news and local tabloids until it reached the borders of London. Leni would be the first person Cillian would attempt to get hold of. He’d want answers. Ones that would cost her life. And that was something I wouldn’t allow. Strangely enough, after countless times on the business end of her guns and many blades, she was a friend now. At least she felt like one.

Flashes of her naked body bent over the couch, her glorious mouth around my dick, and the taste of her pussy on my tongue crashed into me and straight to my cock. The best kind of friend with benefits. And I wasn’t ready to give that up.

“You’re thinking about something. I swear I can almost see the wheels in your head turning.”

I glanced over my shoulder to a fresh-faced Leni, still naked and leaning against the door frame, toothbrush in hand.

“Just remembering those sweet little noises you made while my cock was shoved so deep down your throat.”

“Of course,” she chuckled as she crossed her arms over her chest, perky tits pushed together. I looked down at my grey sweatpants, knowing damn well there was no hiding the effects of this woman.

From my peripheral, I watched her push off from the door and move toward me, wrapping her arms around me from behind. “Thank you,” she whispered over my skin.

“Do you want to talk about it? About last night.”

She remained silent for countless seconds before answering. “No.”

Not wanting to venture down that dark road with her again, at least not at the moment, I didn’t push. Maybe she’d talk about it when she was ready.

When she was ready?

How long would that be, and where would I be regarding Leni, even days from now? I grabbed at my chest, feeling the weighted pressure of what possibly awaited us.

“Come with me.”

She stiffened slightly at my words.

“What?”

I turned around, drawing her to my chest. “Santino is setting me up in Florida. Come with me. Let’s leave all this behind.”

Leni shook her head and let out a confused chuckle. “Silas, I’m not leaving. Not until I find my father’s killer. And even if that wasn’t the case, did you forget I have a life outside of this?”

I gripped her shoulders. “Did you forget you have a bounty on your head twice over? Cillian knows Melina was with you. Hell, we don’t even know if she contacted him before she went for a swim and told him everything.”

She avoided eye contact, and that told me she’d already checked out, confirming my suspicions in the next breath.

“Nothing you say will convince me otherwise. I can’t—I refuse to let go of what happened to him. What they did…”

“Leni, you’re smarter than this. Whoever murdered your father is obviously connected to the men on the train. This isn’t just one man. I know you think you’re indestructible, but these people obviously wield power. It’s only a matter of time until—”

Leni broke my hold on her shoulders and stepped back, putting distance between us. “It doesn’t matter what you say. I won’t leave.”
