“Hey, the car is out of sight. For all they know, we never arrived.”
Eva’s fingers curled around the fabric of my shirt, and she shook her head. “What about Cody? He won’t lie for us.”
I placed my hands on her hips. “He won’t be a problem.”
A streak of sunlight lit up a portion of her face. Her irises, usually a dark brown, gleaned bronze against the glow. They were mesmerizing, moving back and forth.
“What does that mean? You weren’t serious about what you said back there, were you?”
I couldn’t very well tell her I’d snapped the bastard’s neck. So I did what I did best when it came to Evangelina.
Lied.
“Of course not. I put him to sleep and hid him behind some shrapnel. He won’t be awake any time soon.”
She hesitated momentarily, probably digesting my words, before closing her eyes and nodding against my shirt. Her grip on me tightened as she pushed her body forward.
“Sorry. There’s a piece of metal at my back.”
“You think I’m upset that I have you here? Like this? Because despite what’s going on out there, I’m not too torn up about our secret hideaway.”
A soft whimper escaped her.
“You’re shaking. Do small spaces make you nervous?” My lips were against her hairline, and I grabbed the belt loops of her jeans, dragging her closer, cock hard against her abdomen. I knew she felt the effect she had on me but said nothing, nor did she try to move away.
“No, not really. It’s just that you and I—”
I cut her off mid-sentence by sliding my hands down the back of her thighs and hoisting her up to my waist. Eye level now, her brows were raised, shocked by my boldness.
“There’s more space for you up here. Doesn’t that feel better?”
“How convenient for you,” she said in a whisper.
I chuckled, my lips feathering the curve of her neck. “It was a little tight down there for me too.”
“I noticed.”
Lowering my head to her shoulder, I laughed again, the sound muffled by the fabric of her shirt.
“Just wait,” I said, mouth grazing the crest of her ear.
The things I wanted to do to her. Fire burned white-hot in my veins when she hooked her legs around my torso, and my reach shifted up, the globes of her ass in each hand.
Eva leaned into the crook of my neck. “You’re going to get tired of holding me.” Her breath was warm on my skin.
“Not a chance. I could do this all night, angel.” The tip of my nose brushed against hers.
“Is that right?”
“Ask what you really want to know, Eva,” I crooned against her skin before brushing up the length of her neck, chin, and bottom lip.
She shuddered and closed her eyes, shaking her head slowly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Sure, you do. You want to know how long and how good I can fuck you in this position, don’t you?”
Eva murmured my name, but the sound was different than I expected. Her voice wasn’t coated in lust for my brazen words. With her fists clutching harder at my shirt and her breaths coming in shallow, rugged pants, it was apparent something else entirely was going on.
