My teeth dug into his flesh, my tongue traveled across his skin.

The beast sang triumphant serenades as my body melted into his embrace; my mind quieted like the autumn’s skies before a storm.

“Just like that, Princess.”






Chapter 11. Unexpected Guest.

His heartbeat sang in unison with mine. The Moon sparkled in his eyes; the stained glass shone rainbows on his soft cheeks.

We sat on the wooden floors, his hands still wrapped around my waist. Unable to say a word, I rested my head on his shoulder as guilt and shame spread through me like wildfire.

“I despise you,” I whispered against Francis’ neck for his hand in my lost battle.

He merely chuckled. “I can live with that.”

My eyes closed as two forces spun my head into madness.

I didn’t hurt a single soul—

Dangerous.

No human suffered for my weakness—

Worthless.

“I must go.” I sighed, abandoning our embrace. “Happy birthday, Francis.”

“Thank you, Princess.”

The stairs spiraled underneath my feet as my legs carried me away from the observation room.

My mind spiraled with a longing for pain.

I haven’t hurt a soul.I repeated my mantra, though my heart ached for fire.

Nausea crept in as my gloved hands met the doorknob of my room. My mind screamed at me to enter, to give in to my wicked, broken thoughts.

I swallowed as the need to burn spread across my flesh, my skin prickled in anticipation—

“What is the matter?” A voice at the end of the hallway exclaimed. My head flew in the direction, glowing eyes met mine. “Are you well?” Roxanne eyed my ivory gloves.
