I tensed, and he gazed down at me, his expression half feral. He slid his hand down to caress my clit, and my inner muscles relaxed as pleasure shot through me. He eased his way inside me, and we both let out a breath.
“Fuck, Vas.”
“Better than even my best fantasies, Mere.”
He kissed me gently, then began to roll his hips, slowly thrusting, his fingers still dancing over my clit, his other hand taking his entire weight. I moaned, and his wings were suddenly visible.
“Shit, sorry.”
“No. Don’t hide them.”
I brushed my fingers over the spot at the top of his wings, fascinated by how they melded to his back. He groaned, and his mouth crashed down on mine, his tongue stroking as he moved within me.
My breath caught in my throat, and I lifted my hips, needing more of him.
“Harder.”
“Don’t push me, baby. I’m trying not to hurt you.”
I turned and sank my teeth into his neck, sucking and marking him the way he had marked me.
“Fuck.”
He lifted his hips and rammed into me, again and again. My entire body trembled, the pleasure making my muscles tense tighter and tighter.
I cried out as my climax smashed over me in wave after wave of ecstasy. Vas cursed and finished with me, shuddering as he pulled me even closer. I wound my arms around his neck and held on, shaken to my bones.
I had no idea sex could be that good.
I must have drifted off, because I blinked open my eyes to find Vas rolling over and pulling me with him. He smiled at me, rolled me onto my side, and then leaned down, placing a gentle kiss to my left butt cheek.
I rolled back and stared at him. He smiled. “I believe I owed you that.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. I’d told him to kiss my ass, right before we went into battle.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” Vas said quietly.
My heart stuttered in my chest at his solemn expression. “What is it?”
“I killed Nero. And about seven of his flunkies.”
My first instinct was to assume Vas had a good reason, and I should probably be worried that I wanted to immediately justify anything he did.
“Why?” I whispered.
“I’m sorry. I tried it your way, Mere. One of his men was dragging a teenager into the house when I left. And all I could see was your face. All I could think was that could’ve been you. You had no one to protect you, and if your father had borrowed from Nero that time right before he left you for all those years…”
I had no doubt I would’ve ended up being dragged into that house. “And Nero?”
“Nero attempted to shoot me. And then I turned them all to ash.”
It was as if Vas was trying to get everything off his chest, so I’d know each detail.
“Nero was a bad man.” And if there was one thing I’d learned about demon justice, it was that bad men didn’t last long. One could argue that many of the demons themselves were bad men. But Samael’s demons didn’t rape women. They didn’t prey on innocent humans.
“I’m glad he’s dead. I know I shouldn’t be, but you probably saved a lot of people a lot of heartache.”
He narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he hadn’t expected me to take it so well. I angled my head. “I’ve been serving drinks to paranormals from every faction for years, Vas. I know what your justice looks like.” I stroked my fingers down his soft wing, the feathers tickling the side of my face as I nestled closer. “Can I ask you a question?”
