“But it’s been a…long time.”

He scooped me back up, carrying me into my bathroom, where he placed me back on the floor. He leaned over to turn on the water. And if my gaze dropped to his butt, it was no one’s business but mine.

He glanced over his shoulder at me, and his wink told me he’d caught me checking him out. And he was pleased by it.

He turned back to me, dropping his hands to his shirt, pulling it over his head.

My mouth watered as his shirt hit the floor. The sight of Vas with his shirt off was going to live rent-free in my head for the next several decades.

He gave me that boyish grin, and I realized I’d started petting his chest.

“Your turn, baby,” he said.

We were doing this. It was really happening. I suddenlyneededhis hands on me, and Vas drew in a sharp breath at whatever he saw on my face. I wasn’t exactly graceful as I ripped off my T-shirt.

“Allow me,” he purred, nudging my hands away from my zipper. He slowly peeled the jeans down my thighs, kneeling at my feet. When he glanced back up at me, my heart stopped.

The look in his eyes was…reverent.

“You have no idea how many nights I’ve dreamed of you staring down at me just like that,” he murmured.

I stepped out of my jeans, and he slowly ran his hands up both of my legs, until they were warm against the backs of my thighs.

He leaned close and nuzzled my stomach, making me shiver. His tongue darted out, and I groaned as he tasted my skin.

He’d barely touched me, and I was already aching for him.

He slowly peeled my underwear off me, then rose to his feet, unhooking my bra. He pulled the hair tie out of my hair and put it on a shelf, undoing my braid. My hair fell around my shoulders, long enough that it was close to hitting the small of my back. I hadn’t had time to get it cut in a while.

“You’re so fucking gorgeous it should be illegal.”

I took a sharp breath. He’d grown up around female demons, who were some of the most beautiful women I’d ever seen. When I’d met Lilith, I hadn’t been able to look away for a full minute. And yet…I knew it wasn’t a lie. Vas truly seemed to find me, with my scars and cellulite andhumanness, beautiful.

I’d never understand it, but I wasn’t dumb enough to argue. Not to mention, he’d be pissed off if I tried. I dropped my gaze to the bulge in his jeans instead.

“Your turn.”

Was that really my voice? Hoarse and low and shaky?

Vas stripped off his jeans, his gaze on my face the entire time. I was only human. I glanced down.

And my mouth dropped open.

“Uh…”

He threw his head back and laughed. Then he pulled me into the shower. The water felt refreshing, but I gasped as I shoved my head under it.

“That’s not lukewarm, Mere. It’s cold.” A muscle ticked in his jaw. “How long have you been taking cold showers?”

I slitted my eyes at him. “You’re about to get laid, buddy. Don’t ruin it.”

“Mere…”

I distracted him with a kiss. “Mustreallysuck in the mornings,” he mumbled against my mouth.

I slipped my hand down, wrapping it around him. He tensed, cursed, and covered my hand with his, gently pulling it away.

“I don’t think so, baby. I’ve had a lot of time to imagine how this is going to go. And our first time is going to be in your bed, where I don’t have to worry about you becoming hypothermic from your shower.”
