I could practically feel his smugness. “Something you want, Mere?”
I let out a curse, and he laughed, his warm breath tickling my thighs.
He kept me on the edge for what felt like hours. His skilled mouth teased and licked, dancing around my clit. Every time I tensed, on the edge of an incredible climax, he shifted his attention elsewhere, until I was trembling in his arms.
“You’re a sadist,” I gasped out.
“Just making sure you’re ready for me, baby.”
He positioned himself against my entrance, and I clenched my fists around the bedspread I’d balled up in my frustration.
I pushed my hips back, but he wouldn’t be rushed, his large hands holding me still for him.
I was so wet, so ready, as he finally buried himself in me, so deep I saw stars. “You’re even bigger in this position,” I gasped out, and he chuckled.
“You can take me.” He thrust again. And again. My every muscle tightened, and he cursed as I clenched around him, shuddering as the climax he’d denied me roared through me like a hurricane.
When I opened my eyes, I was lying limp on the bed and Vas was behind me, still holding me in place. He gently rocked into me, and I gasped as he caressed the spot that made me tremble. He slid one hand beneath my belly, pushing up, while the other caressed my clit.
Static filled the edges of my vision. “I’m going to pee.”
His laugh was strained. “No, you’re not.” He was pounding into me now. I opened my mouth, but my breath caught in my throat, and all I could do was groan as pleasure exploded from my center, winding its way through every inch of my body. Behind me, Vas let out a low growl and went still, his hands tightening on me.
We both collapsed. I trembled, aftershocks still hitting me every few seconds.
For the first time in a long time, I was speechless.
Vas nuzzled me and slowly pulled out. He disappeared, returning a second later with a damp cloth. He ran it over me, and I managed to open one eye.
“I saw stars.”
He grinned, pressing a kiss to the tip of my nose as he climbed back into the bed next to me. He pulled me closer, and we drifted in silence for a long moment.
“What was it like?” I asked drowsily. “Growing up in this realm.”
Vas stroked my hair, gazing thoughtfully up at the ceiling. “I didn’t know any different. It could have been lonely—there weren’t any other kids brought through when the portals opened. So, there was no one else my age. But Ag was always there. I had more freedom than human children since I was a little more difficult to break—and since most people in the neighborhood knew my uncle was Samael’s second. But I used to watch the human kids with their siblings and friends, wondering what it would be like.” His lips quirked. “Then I met my friend Dean, and he taught me what brotherhood was all about.”
“I’m glad you had someone,” I murmured. I couldn’t imagine what it had been like for him to grow up at the intersection of two worlds…without his parents.
“I can’t wait to introduce you two,” he said, and warmth spread through my belly. “What about you?” he asked. “Your childhood can’t have been easy once your father found out what you could do.”
I swallowed. “My mom found out years before he did. She warned me to never let him know. Their relationship was…strained. They went through periods of this intense bliss, where neither of them could do any wrong, but then something would happen. My father would decide Mom had flirted with one of his friends, or she would realize he’d cleared out their accounts and gone to one of the underground gambling dens. It would…devolve.”
“What happened to her?”
My throat tightened. As it always did when I talked about my mom.
“She died. She had breast cancer.”
“I’m sorry. That must’ve been hard.”
“It was. It was long and awful. I think that’s when my father changed for good. One of the last things my mom said to me was an apology. For not leaving him. For not giving me the childhood I deserved. She told me to learn from her mistakes. To do it better for my own children one day.”
“You’d be an incredible mother.”
I shrugged. “I don’t know if I should have kids.” I had a sudden image of Vas with a child in his arms. He’d be the best father I could imagine.
Vas stroked my hair back from my face. “Not that you need a reason, but is there one?”
