My eyes flash to the incredible view before moving to the outdoor hot tub, and I have to admit, she’s right. I could see us spending a lot of time here. “Okay, let’s do it. Let’s get you this apartment.”

“What? No. I can’t afford this one.” Her cheeks turn pink, her lips pulling into a sheepish grin. “I wanted to see it so I could manifest it for the future.”

“What?” I frown, staring longingly at the balcony as her words take it away from me.

“I’m sure you noticed the huge difference betweenthisplace and the others we’ve seen,” Blair says, drawing my gaze back to hers.

“Honestly, I thought you were messing with me when we looked at the others. I was waiting for you to tell me you were joking, that you couldn’t bear for us to be apart.”

“Nope.” She pops thepand I can’t help but chuckle.

“If you insist on living separately, we’re getting this place. I’ll be here as often as you’ll allow. I should contribute.”

“You’re not paying formyapartment.”

“Okay. How about this then... Blair Jasmine Stevens, I would like to hire you to write a book for me.”

“You what?”

“I’ve said this before, and I mean it. I want you to write our story, and I want to pay you to do it.”

“Goddammit.” She huffs adorably. “You’re not going to make this easy, are you?”

“Nope.”

“Fine. You can pay for a quarter of my rent. But I still can’t afford—”

“Three quarters.”

“God, you’re impossible. No.”

“This is what people call anegotiation. You have to meet me somewhere. You can’t just say no.” A cocky smile lights up my face and Blair rolls her eyes.

“Ugh. A third then.”

“Three fifths.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“Nope. And I refuse to go any lower than half.”

“Fine. Half.”

“Thank you.” Without another word, I stalk out of the bedroom, chuckling when Blair groans behind me.

“What are you doing?”

The realtor steps into view and my victorious smile widens. “We’ll take it.”

“Zane.” Blair groans again before turning to Suzanne, hersmile apologetic. “Sorry. We’ll just be a moment.”

“Take your time.” Suzanne waves her off, but I mime signing papers just to reassure her.

“What’s going on?” I play dumb as I follow Blair outside, my brows furrowed.

“Why this apartment?” she questions me. “What does it matter?”

“Because of the hot tub.”
