“Hi,” Kai says with a slight grin.
The moonlight shines down on his bright-blue eyes, causing them to shine somehow even brighter.
Butterflies invade my stomach.
“Hi,” I say.
He drives slowly down the street.
“Where are we going?”
“Let’s go to a park.”
We make it to the park, which is a couple of miles from my house.
“Your brother didn’t need the car tonight?”
“No. He was already in bed when I left.”
We get out of the car and start walking over to the swing set.
It must be nice to not have to worry about asking your parents if you can go out.
Actually, it must be nice to not have to sneak out.
I sit down on a swing and start kicking my legs back and forth, feeling the wind rush through my hair. I look over at Kai, and he’s just sitting there, not moving, gazing at me with a smile on his face.
“What?”
He shakes his head. “It looks like you’re enjoying yourself.”
“What? You don’t like to swing?”
He shrugs his shoulders. “Have you ever done spider?”
I swallow the lump in my throat. Does he want me to sit on top of him? I’ve never been in that kind of position with a guy before. We would be very close to each other.
“When I was younger.” I slow my swinging down and get off the swing.
“Come on,” he says as he holds onto the chains and leans himself backward.
I straddle both my legs around him, blushing from how close I am to him. Not just our bodies, but our private parts. He kicks us off with his legs and starts swinging up and down. My boobs are at the same height as his face. If I lean over, they will be right in his face. Did he do this on purpose to get me closer to him? Guys do sneaky things like this, thinking us girls are naïve. I mean… I guess I am a little naïve, considering I’m sitting on top of him right now. I didn’t realize how close all my private parts would be to him.
We’re moving along and swinging back and forth. The breeze continues to blow through my hair, causing me to lean back slightly to feel it more. When I straighten myself up, Kai looks at me with narrowed eyes and a lopsided grin. We are both staring at each other now. His swinging is slowing down. I draw my lower lip between my teeth. I can’t stop the blush from creeping back to my cheeks. We have come to a full stop now. Kai reaches in and grips both of my cheeks with his hands, pulling me closer to him. His lips brush against mine. I’m frozen in shock and unsure what to do. He leans in closer, and I feel the pressure on our lips increasing. His tongue touches my lips, causing me to open my mouth, and our tongues collide. I lean in closer, resting my boobs against his chest and falling deeper into our kiss.
He pulls us apart, and I glance away from him, makingminimal eye contact. He leans in and wraps his arms around me, placing his head on my chest. My heart is racing. My heart always races with him when we get this close. Does he hear it? Does he feel it? He slightly swings us back and forth. My mind races with thoughts of how connected I feel with him in this short amount of time. A small smile tugs at my lips as I realize this is my real life…with Kai.
“What happened to you?”
I narrow my eyes at Paige as she drives us to school. “What do you mean?” I pull down the visor and stare at myself in the mirror.
“You look like you didn’t sleep.”
Both of my eyes are bloodshot red. “Because I didn’t,” I say with a giggle.
“What does that mean?”
It was hard for Kai and me to leave each other last night. I felt so protected in his arms, making it hard to want to leave. He dropped me back off at four in the morning, only giving us three hours to sleep before school. It was hard waking up this morning, but I couldn’t think of a good excuse to get out of school since I was supposedly sick last weekend.
