“That was so hot, my Kitten.” Unfortunately not deep enough to leave scars to remember him by.

“But now you’re hurt.”

“I heal very quickly. It’s nothing. Come here.” I opened my arms, and he snuggled to me.

Either my brain was fried from the amazing sex or I heard people cheering far in the distance and celebrating with fireworks. For us? Was I losing my mind?

“I think the clock just struck midnight,” Kaos said, wiggling closer to me, plastering himself to my body.

I chuckled. Of course, it was New Year’s Eve. “Nah. They are all cheering for us.”

Kaos rolled off the bed and stood up, giggling. “Stay here.” He caught my upper tentacle and kissed it. “I’ll draw a bath.”

Where the fuck did he store all that energy?

“I can help.”

“Let me.” He brushed a strand of hair off my forehead, pivoted on his heel and slipped into the bathroom, closing the door behind himself.

Soaking in the jacuzzi had become our evening ritual, and when Kaos realised how much I loved it, he’d been preparing it every day. I stretched on the bed and listened to Kaos’s humming echoing in the tiled room. He was probably dancing around naked with our cum still stuck to his body. Kaos could be so carefree like that, and so confident and articulate in his videos, but every time we’d gone outside, all of that was gone. He’d regained some confidence during our later trips to the city, but I would love to know if this streak would continue. He deserved the respect his family didn’t seem to give him, and the success that was surely coming his way with how hard he’d been working.

The door swung open, showing a grinning Kaos. He stepped to the side and motioned me in like an exceptionally sexy steward.

With a grin, I followed into the bathroom. Every shelf had a lit candle of different shapes and sizes, bathing the space in a soft, romantic glow. Delicate scent wafted off the water without bubbles. He knew I didn’t like them.

I stepped into the large tub, took a deep breath and shifted my legs into tentacles. The water would be too hot for me if I were alone, but my body accommodated quickly, and this way Kaos would be warm. “Come here, Kitten.”

Kaos climbed onto my lap and situated himself against my chest. His ear tickled my chin, and I nuzzled it, inhaling the scent of his hair.

“I love sitting on your tentacle lap.” He sloshed the water with his hands and relaxed against me. “This is my happy place.”

My hearts stopped, and my throat closed. Was that how Kaos felt when he was choking? Like dying?

I mumbled words in my native tongue into Kaos’s hair, letting out the one thing I couldn’t say. Because if I did, I’d have to let him go today. Break off our arrangement two days before we were due to fly out on separate planes. I wouldn’t ruin that.

“I like when you let your Greek out. What did you say?”

“Nothing important, Kitten.”

Chapter Nineteen

Kaos

The bed underneath me was harder than I was used to. It also rose and fell. I dug my fingers into it to make it softer, but nothing happened.

“Kaos?” Spiro’s voice was very close.

I blinked my eyes open and saw the underside of his enormous chin.

“Why are you—” The sound that came out was not me. I tried again, but only a soft meow emerged from my throat.

My heart sped up, as did my breathing, and I took a lungful of air. My meow turned into a scream as I willed myself into my human body. I was on top of Spiro, still shaking when he wrapped his arms around me.

“What was that?” I sat up, straddling Spiro.

“You shifted,” he said calmly, searching my face. “That’s good, right?”

“But…” I rolled my shoulders, feeling the effects of the body change. My muscles were sore, like after a workout. “What did I look like?”
